Or because NASCAR doesn't require the engine to be a modified production model, but then requires a whole bunch of other things that basically make a large derivative of a 50-year-old engine the only option. I'm pretty sure that's it.

Also, I take it back about the Nissan VG30.
is.

In other news, tomorrow, I'm putting my coils on. Should be fun.

Lol. Easy fella, lol. We are all entitled to our opinions, I'm personally a muscle car guy, who thinks the fast and the furious has retarded our youth, but then again i had 1 rice grinding punk try my ta on for size, he quickly realized his 10 sec fwd car was a 15.5 car, which needed a lot of parts to hang with a 12.2 car, that got 28mpg, and all the ladies wanted a ride. I refuse to be beaten by a car that looks like a trapper keeper lol. There is a local guy that runs 9s in a supra, but it is a track only car, and he would be faster with a tt lsx, and he will be the first to admit it.

I watched The Fast and the Furious and immediately thought it was the worst movie ever. But my experience has been overwhelmingly that Japanese cars do a lot more with a lot smaller engine, and make up for any shortcoming in power by having great handling and the general ability to turn at speeds greater than a crawl.

I can't remember who said it, but, "Straight lines are for fast cars. Cornering is for fast drivers." That's stuck with me, and to that end, I place a lot more value on the skill of the driver and the tuner, than of the person who dropped a bigger V8 and ran a faster 1/4 mile.

It's all in what you set them up to do, 1/4mile isn't big engine wins, there is a lot of tuning to get it right, one turn of the lower control arm hiem could pick up 1/10 in your 60ft time, which could get you 3/10 on the pass, there is a lot to it. You can make any car handle if you know what your doing, and many modern muscle cars do exactly that. I turn wrenches on a b-mod that does 115 mph on a dirt track with 3 tires on the ground and one of those crappy 350s you spoke of earlier, naturally aspirated through a 500 cfm 2 barrel carb. It's all in how you set it up.

Don't misquote me. I meant the LT-1 specifically. Super-restrictive intake and TBI because it was cobbled together.

And the problems with muscle cars and handling abound:
General preference for live axles
Oftentimes poor weight balance (Overly front-biased)
Generally higher mass
Straight line transmission gearing
Open or locked differential

That's all good for a straight line, but they don't like to turn. I have yet to see any muscle car, even a new one, out-turn a Nissan S-chassis. Or an RX7. Or any number of other cars. Like I said, straight lines are for fast cars, corners are for fast drivers. Some people like Top Fuel and NASCAR. I can't get into that. It takes something like WRC (Group B especially) to turn me on. Because instead of strapping the biggest engine in, and setting for one track condition, they have to get what they can out of stock cars on all sorts of conditions.

The LT1 is a sequential port injection engine, not a TBI.
