Thanks to the EPA for stipulating a "major emissions component" warranty for 8 yrs 80k miles (not ZJ related.) When I went to Mazda with a stuck CEL that wouldn't clear, they reset it and said if it came back they'd need to replace the computer for $$$$$. It came back a few days later, so I went in and reminded their service department about the EPA guideline... they replaced my computer free of charge at ~70kish. They didn't even ask any more questions or anything so they were definitely aware of the rule. Anyway, they tried to screw me first and I'm sure they've gotten away with murder on people who aren't informed about this "bad for business regulation." HA!

cant agree more with you

had a 97 Nissan altima. airbag module went some chepo sensor. Went to auto parts store they said dealer item only.......Went to dealer and now they tell me they cant sell me that part because of safety reasons and now I have to get it fixed by them. If I was a little smarter at the time I probably would have done a junkyard search but it was my second car and I was worried about the airbag system. 465.00 for the module and 400 something to install......Thats craziness

Front bumper I build for field use, then changed it up as it hurt my approach angle.
My dad just got a flat tire at work on his explorer. He got new tires. I told him to start drivin the jeep I need some. Haha

I'm not sure if a junkyard can sell airbag parts legally. It's not unreasonable to regulate who can work on those to a point, as if you don't know what you're doing, it's not all that hard to accidentally deploy the bag while working on it, and that either makes an expensive mess (best case), or can hurt someone.

well I see the point as why I had Nissan fix it but it just seems they charge whatever they want and you have no options. Its just not right taking up the pipe from these dealers that made the part for 12.99 in china.

I don't think it has anything to do with the law. Probably more related to liability as the JY is afraid you can sue them if you get hurt. Not sure ont his one though.

This is what is so bad about it. When the dealer is allowed to do this, one doesn't have any alternative options. I've got some friends who disagree strongly with me because they've been drinking the kool-aid, but I don't understand their logic because since there's no alternative, then there's no "free market." Yep, only a friggin monopoly peddling chinese garbage for 10,000% profit + outrageous labor costs.

I was driving down the freeway yesterday when all of a sudden I felt it pull hard to the right and make a really loud buzzing noise. Pulled over as fast as I could, hopped out and looked... my front right tire was completely shredded and almost off the wheel. I don't know how it happened, but I think I'll invest in a new set... anyone know where I can find some cheap new tires?

Seriously? You almost die then end your story with " hey I need cheap tires". I'd think you'd want good tires that wont blow out on you? Just my opinion tho.

On topic I'm gonna finally put my bilsteins from kolak on!
