Pulled a rear wheel bearing, couldn't get the new one in. I have a slide hammer and a bearing puller that has an adjustable plate that is about the same diameter as the bearing so I can use it to hammer the bearing in. But it only goes in half way.

Anyone else run into this? I used grease and beat the doodoo out of it but it only goes half way to the inner lip in the tube. There's no burrs or anything hanging it up. I have the bearings and seals in the freezer for the night, can't think of anything else

How about using the old bearing to put on top of the new bearing then lay a flat piece of wood over it and beat it in with a hammer.

I thought about it, but was worried both bearings would be stuck in the tube. I may try that though if no other ideas present themselves

That's the same yellow top I put in my Caprice. I paired it up with some 1/0 charging wire and a 200 amp alternator. I like it a lot, but the yellow tops aren't that great of starting batteries. I don't think I'd put one into a daily driver. CAs and CCAs are lower than their red top counter parts. You can deep cycle that one though with no adverse effects.

Found out some good news. Bought a new engine for the chevelle from a guy who does pickup pulls running a 970hp na bbc. His old truck had a d44 in the front with all the same parts as mine turning 35s, and he never broke it. This gives me hope that my 44 might hold together.
