It must be a limited thing coz mine does the same too but my drivers side mirrois a spaz. When I press the button to reset it it will bounce back and forth for about a minute before it settles! Crazy mirror ghost playing up again!

Man, that's a whoooooole lotta white going on there. Maybe you should call it Moby?

The clock on the VIC is easy to set. If you don't have the owner's manual, I can walk you through it.

Take off the drivers door panel, and remove the (middle plug) single row plug out of the drivers window switch module. This will disable the memory seat/mirror feature that gets jacked up over time and thusly will stop everything from going crazy when you unlock it.

The reason this happens, is that the sensors in the mirror/seat that track movement, get worn over time and think they know where everything is...they don't.

I've done this to my red ZJ and just did it to my 5.9 a couple hours ago. No problems afterwards on either one!

OT>>
  • Swapped the PDM out of my 5.2 into my 5.9. The 5.9 now has RKE!!
  • Diagnosed my transmission problem as actually being a bad PCM.
  • Disabled the memory seat/mirror feature
  • Swapped the rubber "stoppers" on the tailgate with the ones from my 5.2.
  • Dropped the transmission pan while diagnosing the problem and thus, needing new fluid, a new gasket, and a new filter.
  • Checked tire PSI and aired a couple of them up
  • Cleaned the wheels with some Simple Green. Nice and shiny now

I can't wait to drive this damned thing!

Just now bought a pair of blank OEM keys.

aircruiser- to elaborate on the answer you got about the VIC clock. once you put in the aftermarket HU the VIC changes its clock setting thingy. so you used to be able to change just the hour, and the minutes were controlled by the factory HU. now you can change the hour and minutes by the vic. pretty simple

Yup. To change it on the VIC, just hold down set until the numbers start flashing. It'll probably reset the miles to service clock, but press and hold once again to change the time.

If you haven't started on the ZJ yet, there's a great install write-up on NAGCA. It looks like the ZJ and XJ radios are compatible.

You gotta push select while in time changing mode to select different parameters.

Also, there is a plug with only two wires that go into the stock head unit. This is the ccd plug, which I'd imagine, is how the headunit and the vic communicate.

Do you have a module that allows you to use the steering wheel controls to control the aftermarket hu?

OT>

Got the sub. amplifier power and signal wires ran underneath the carpet. Just gotta Hookup the ground and power cables to the amp, signal cable to the headunit and back together goes the dash!

Also, Dad bought a boat load o parts. To name a few... platinum plugs, plug wires, tensioner pulley, idler pulley, trans filter/pan gasket, both hatch struts, cv boots for both sides of the d30, the tool for put them on/off, drive belt, all 3 wiper blades, 12 quarts of tranny fluid ($60 right there), distributor cap and rotor and pcv valve and hose.

Let's say I'll be busy tomorrow.
