Friday thought my ujoints went out so today took the front drive shaft out and test drove it to see if that was the problem which it wasnt so i opened the front diff and clumps fell out so i took the drain pain in side to the sick and turns out the clumps that fell out were 10 bolts that go to the ring gear. The heads were sheared off. This is gonna be fun trying to fix in a parking lot of my apartment complex...

Fixed the ignition lock cylinder, it broke.. Good to have the jeep back!

Wow. Never heard of that. I wonder of they came loose, then shore, or just simply shore. Either way you are going to have to remove the carrier and hope the bolts screw out with a vise grip. Depending on how far out they where this may be a simple fix. Pics would be nice.

Don't think it'll really matter if he can get the stubs out of the ring gear or not at this point, if he drove it more than about 5' with the 10 bolt heads in there I can almost guarantee you the ring/pinion are trashed.

Never heard of that happening, but cheapest way is probably finding a hp/lp30 at the junk yard and just swapping it in

On Friday I went and put some new shoes on my GC. Got a new oil change and trans flush to. So this weekend had to go and try it out. I think she sounds pretty good.

I'd inspect everything once you get it apart. Ring and pinion are very picky on setup, but can take a lot of abuse some times too. We have a ford truck that blew the rear u-joint taking the rear yoke. This happened 20 years ago, I pulled the yoke and the shaft, then tried driving home, very bad idea. When it locked up it chipped a tooth off the ring, and 2 off the pinion. I got a new yoke and shaft then bolted it all together hoping to limp it through till new gears showed up. Sold that truck with the factory gears in it 5-10 years ago, never gave an ounce of trouble. Moral is, it's worth a shot if you can get the stubs out, and everything looks decent. Only cost 10 bolts and an hour of your time.

Ordered a Cat Converter from autozone yesterday, and today I installed it. Still has the Thrush Muffler(cheap $25 AZ one), but thinking about getting the Welded Thrush Muffler. Anyone have this on a 5.2, if so how does it sound.

The jeep feels alot "tighter" now, if that makes sense. Without the cat, it felt like it had no back pressure, just too LOOSE.....

My buddy had the welded thrush on his 5.2 and it sounded exactly like a FM40 he later replaced it with.

DAMN!!!, was hoping it was quieter than a FM 40. But oh well... What would be a better alternative to the FM40.

Want it quieter than a FM40, but not quiet as stock. Maybe a FM50.

I'd say go with the 70. Heck, with the better flowing heads, mild cam, re-done y-pipe, and 3" cat, muffler and tailpipe, even my 70 is pretty darn loud.

On topic, I changed the oil in it yesterday.

I'm extremely happy with my 14" Magnaflow. It gets loud at WOT but is quiet for normal driving. The 5.2 sounds great with it. Also, it's stainless, something you're not going to get from Flowmaster... Something to consider living where I live anyway.

Picked up a new under warranty stabilizer bar link from advance auto that was defective and snapped, bolted it up.
Installed new NTK 02 sensor, runs a little better and cured erratic idle.
