Oddly enough, they don't do emission like that. My muffler is just like, rusted out. I have to get it all done before the 9th though, or the state will rape me for another $200. They also didn't have an issue with the duct tape holding the valve cover breathers in place. That being said, thats getting replaces anyway.

Shorten? Do you mean lengthen? The slip yoke for the rear takes care of that for the most part and the front gets a little longer too. Your stock DSs should work, but every Jeep is slightly different.

EDIT: Also, all this talk about inspections brings up a pretty touchy subject. I sometimes wish Indiana and Illinois had them. We just have to do emissions. I see so many cars driving around that I just want to pass because of how unsafe I can tell they are. Inspections keep unroadworthy vehicles off the road. With that being said, I feel the list you've posted goes a little too far. I also feel the state should set up stations to check and have them be free of charge. I like pulling into the emissions site, getting my number, having them hook up to my OBDII, and then not charging me regardless of my pass/fail status. That's rediculous that you have to pay for that.

Actually once it's inspected, it's inspected until it changes hands. Next time that happens, it should be historic (20 years old) and it won't need an inspection then.
