Right now it's in the shop having some custom Niner rock sliders made, would have been far easier and cheaper just to pull off the plastic rocker panels and bolt on some per-made sliders.

This is how it looked last week, will post some new photos when the sliders are done.

For adding a winch it would also be so much easer just to bolt on a winch bumper, but I'm trying to keep the stock good looks.
So I'm planning on installing a winch part way inside the bumper where the license plate will somewhat hide it.
Someone posted a pre-made front receiver. If you can't find it, just have the shop doing your sliders make you one. Then you can have a winch when you want it, and fill the hole with either a nice plug, or do what I did and make a plate mount that goes into the receiver. Hard to see but that plate is in a front receiver.

What about a rc winch plate? looks pretty stock especially if you painted to match the rest of the bumper

I must add that a front receiver was the second mod I did to mine, after the lift. They are extremely useful.

The 5.9 definitely turns heads. With the cam and exhaust, I usually end up with a gas station full of people staring at me when I finish filling up and start it to leave.

I've got 2 ZJs I want to find and keep mint: a stone white 5.9, and a 95 Orvis (twice as many 95s as 96 and 97 combined, but I like the 95 interior better with the green/tan combo).

Ya i get questions and pics taken all the time. I was picking uo my buddy from work yesterday and there was a guy walking toward my jeep and he looked like he was texting, then i saw his phone flash and then he turned around. And i'm surprised how many people know about niners. I'd think to most people it would just be anothet grand cherokee but people come into work all the time and ask who's niner it is out there. The three young guys at my work appeal to the whole automotive after market. Me to the off road crowd, my buddy in his turbo miata (legit drift car) to the drift/ricer crowd, and my buddy in his 2005 S281 supercharged to the muscle car crowd

I think my platinum 5.9 and a green 97 Orvis would be a killer combo. There was a beautiful one on eBay last year. Went for not much of I remember correctly.

I've looked at the receiver mounted winches, but I don't want to keep something like that inside the back of my jeep and I've seen some very nice setups mounted inside the front bumper. I would like to just have the spool showing with the rest of it under the bumper.

Here's a link to one, but I don't plane on setting this far back into the bumper
Winch Bumper

While my Niner is in the shop being worked on I decided to give my old Golden Eagle some much needed TLC. As you can see I've gotten the front done.

Only those who will risk going too far
can possibly find out how far one can go.

Looks great.

You will have to custom fab anything like what you want. There isn't an abundance of room there either, and you will have to cut out the front metal lets call it a bumper crossmember. Lol. But the ac, and rad are right there. With your grill guard you could enclose that, with lights in it , and cut out your front bumper to mount the winch in leaving just the cable and rolers showing. Might look good.

What are you using for polish? I use wizards turbo cut as I thought it was the best, but that looks awesome.

This is the reason my last 2 personal trucks have been purchased from San Fran, then los Angeles.
