Also be sure to install them AFTER the valve cover is back on...and for those who haven't changed t he gasket...make sure after u pull the old one off..
Take the time to prep..take a razor blade and scrape the old gasket off and use some acetone to clean the surface well..then out the new one on

*looks at the rarity of his Zj* ......eh, I did think about that before I started hacking it aimlessly and thought to myself this is gonna be fun.

Yes it's worse when warmed up. When i shut it off, run in a store for a couple minutes, then come back out and start it, it sounds the worst. If i shut it ofd and leave it for an hour or longer it sounds okay starting
Bieb, every time I've had one that acts up warm, but acts fine cold, it's the starter. I know you had it tested. They test them cold, where yours works fine, they can't test it hot, where yours doesn't.

Nah, screw the T56. The gear spread is all wrong. I looked at that, and with a 2.97 1st, and 0.50 6th, you'd end up running 4.56s or 4.88s on 30" tires to keep a good range.

I'd love to put one of these in the 5.9: http://www.dieselpowernetwork.net/ZF-S6-650.html

Those came in F-250s, etc, so plenty strong to handle a beefed up 5.9, has a great gear spread (run it with 3.55s, and I'd have stock highway gearing, good around town, and a granny for the trails in with my 30" tires). Resale value doesn't matter to me, as I'm keeping this Jeep until I die, or the government comes around and confiscates all gas-powered vehicles.

As far as what I did today, I ordered up some CB parts to install.

I know how you feel. As soon as I sold my old 95 that I had for ten years and watched it drive away I felt bad, even 6 years later I missed it. I have no plans of getting rid of this one. The only way we will part is if one of us takes the big Jeep trail in the sky.

I didn't consider the gearing when throwing that option out there. I just looked at the vehicles that use a T56 and saw that a lot of them put down a decent amount of power. The T56 is also a pretty bulletproof tranny. The one from the F250 looks pretty nice too. Neither are anything I'd ever do though. I don't have the willpower not the skill to pull off something like that.

You drive a tj, we drive a zj. We have more power while you get more shower. We get the v8 while you get there too late. You have 2 doors well, we have 2 more. Ours costs a grand while yours has a price we cant stand.

And if any zj will be worth money years from now it will be the niner, with a second being the orvis. Not by build amount, but by how desired they are, then by build numbers. Already today only 14 years after production a nice niner brings around double what the exact 5.2 brings. And almost every zj guy would love a niner, 40-50 years down the road when you don't see 1 at every junk yard, and our gen of zj nuts has money. I think we could see a mint niner bring big $$$. Maybe an orvis too as there are guys that dream of an orvis.

Grand Cherokee's never held their value like the Wranglers and I don't predict that they ever will. 2 cents.

I think youre right. All this talk about the niners makes me wanna go out and look for one, and take REALLY GOOD care of it. Who knows, maybe in the future when my kids are in High School, it will the the one that turns heads.

Now that I posted this, going out and looking for one...

You could very well be 100% correct. One thing for sure is that you will never be able to retire off putting a mint niner in storage. With interest, and inflation, you without a doubt could spend your money much wiser some other way.

I'm not having kids but I can tell you that even now with my 5.9 I could definitely turn some heads if I cruised around a high school.

No kids? But who will use up all your money, and destroy all your prized positions? Lol
