Changed my rear diff fluid, fuel filter, and oil. Then cleaned, painted, and installed my front skid. It's looking like the crank position sensor is next...

A lot would agree that the iro front, and clayton rear are the best. Make those for $5-600 and your golden.

Pulled the front and rear axle housing out from under my totaled 5.9... finally. Hopefully tomorrow i will get around to hitting it with some degreaser. Anyone have some advice on how to go about cleaning these bad boys? I have been toying with the idea of having them sandblasted and powder coated, but not sure if it is worth it. Anyone have that done on axle housings? Cost estimate?

If anything I'd clean them really good and paint them with por15. That stuff is incredibly durable and won't flake off.

That would be high as you would have to completely disassemble them. I usually get a wire wheel for a grinder, hit them good with that, then a good xorust paint. Lasts a long time if you wire them off first.

i am definitely contemplating the POR 15 route and will probably end up going that way.

i am also thinking that i should have some of the welds reinforced before i do paint it though. i'm sure they are strong, but i am surprised to see how weak they appear.

as for disassembling them, i am already planning on doing so for a complete rebuild.

and the rest of the jeep is being picked at... a lot of it is gone actually. looking for something particular?
