The only draw back with the 249 is the VC wearing out and it's nearly impossible to find lockers. The 93-95 249 does suck though because it's open. Other than that it's the best in rain and snow being the strongest case of the bunch. For an extreme off roader a 231 would be the best.
i thought lockers were in the front and rear diffs.?. getting annoyed by me following your answers with yet another question, lol?

the deals are out there. i actually found these at a shadetree jeep repair shop. he said he didnt usually sale parts, but allowed me to look around and said we'd try to make a deal if i found something. might check out small repair shops. he also has some rock sliders off an xj, just need to find someone that will let me use their welder.

Lockers are in the fnr diffs. I think what he means is the 2wd option. I think he may be forgetting about the full time 4wd option for snow in the 242. In my opinion the 249 is awesome unless you want a front locker, then you must have a 242. I had 249 with front locker for about a week, with a welded rear, it was undrivable on pavement, on the gas, pull right hard, let off, pull left hard, very dangerous. Put in 242, love my jeep again. I'm not sure I'd agree with cv being stronger turning, they are smoother, but I wouldn't say they are stronger. I had a buddy with 33s take both cvs in one weekend, we replaced them as they went with u-joint shafts from xj, been great ever since.

Looks good. Get some crylon fusion, works awesome on the bottom plastic. Did my avalanche a while ago and it's holding up great. Also tinted the taillights with that rattle can tint and that worked awesome as well

Is BDS really the only company that makes a legit 4 link front and rear long arm kit? I don't like the Clayton and Rough Country 2.5 link front haha. I also don't like paying $3000 for a kit with the wrong shocks and springs.........

Yeah I was planning on it.

With it being 15-25 degrees out I don't really want to be outside or in the garage with the door open (to air out the fumes) all day.

Clayton rear is the best out there, iro has the best front, though it is 2.5 arm. What don't you like about the 2.5, shocks, springs.

I need it to be able to hold up to severe abuse and the 2.5 link setup just wont cut it. I mean my end result might be 2-3 years out but basically I'm building it into a Jeep Speed Prerunner. I will be doing full frame stiffeners, cage, and skids with a buddy of mine in his shop but per Jeep Speed rules we can't make our own long arms..... lol.

I like the Clayton rear setup as it combines some of the advantage of a 3 link as well as the 4 link advantages in stability.

As far as the BDS shocks, I just want something that will be better for a Prerunner. And the 6" springs just seem too tall lol.
