Nothing yet today, but a few things over the past week. On Saturday, I drove it home from Rochester (the long way, due to dropping someone off elsewhere in CT). On the first 330 miles, I got 21.3 mpg, and 19.4 on the last 140 miles. Total average over 470 miles of 20.7 mpg (all hand calculated). In a 5.9 ZJ! This came from spending the first hour or so drafting at 65mph, then setting the cruise to 59 for the rest of the trip.

On Monday, I washed and waxed it, and conditioned the leather. Filled it up on Wednesday, and remembered why I hate city traffic (12.2 mpg).

Tonight, I should be replacing my left front axle shaft, fixing my leaky transmission seal and fixing the t-case linkage. Then, on Sunday, it's back to Rochester.

Ordered the 3.5 lift kit and picked up 5 bfg 265/75/16 (31) inch tires, used to see if I will like em. then I'll get new ones if I do.

Spent 1 1/2 hours trying to open the rear hatch on my new to me 97 ZJ. Somebody else has already be messing with it. There are a few dents around the handle where they were hitting it and some marks under the handle and on the side where they were prying.

I have no clue what to do next. I think I will have to cut up the rear panel or sawzall off the latch post to get it opened.

Also spent hours researching on swapping out the NP242 for the NP231. The 242 is ready to go south.

Take your time and all will come out in the end , my rear hatch would not come open on my 95 and after about an hour of persading the interior molding and such it finally let us in to the release on the inside of the hatch
all mine was the rod that actaully works the lock came unhooked ,popped open reinstalled the rod ,used a ziptie to HELP hold it and all is good!!

as for what i did to mine , last saturday replaced all the brake pads and parking brake linings , installed 16" wheels and 225/65/16's , yesterday installed a new trackbar and omg what a difference

Try to go behind your rear bumber and find the two bolts that hold the loop the latch hooks on to take them off have someone pickup on the door on the outside while pushing it out from the inside thats how i got mine open just be sure to put the bolts back on
