From my own experience with a k&n fipk and all of the research that is on the web about oiled filters vs paper.

Oiled filters don't stop smaller particles from getting in and they reach dirt saturation much faster requiring more maintenance. If you over oil is it's bad for the engine. Not cleaning it properly makes them ineffective and you have to wait a whole day for it to dry to re oil.

Everybody is entitled to their opinion. I guess in all my racing, driving, and just experience, I don't see very many people running paper filters on race engines. I run k&n on everything I beat senseless and have never had a dirt intake problem. I guess every air filter manufacturer and performance engine builder should have talked to you before doing all their research.

A race car is not the same as a daily driver. They both have very different needs.
That's fine for racing when you have a heavily modded engine that can use the free flow. You can rebuild it all the time, and you toss the filter after each race. I am not going to put a filter on my DD truck that I can see light through the other side. The reason it flows better is because it filters less. Paper has twice the filtering surface area as well. My oil was twice as dirty at oil changes with the K&N than the stock filter. To each his own.

I drove it to work at highway speeds with the new tires on. No death wobble!!! The bottle of makers mark I drank in honor of the death wobble gods must have appeased them.

If at first you don't succeed, use more speed.
