Got mine back from my welders with the new frame rails and long arm brackets on! Also got the rear axle out and stripped down for the truss to go on.
Then cut off the old track bar bracket and got a start on cutting off the old uca brackets but ran out of cutting disks.
My Clayton rear long arms are nearly complete!

How do you guys mnage to keep your battery trays in one peice? I've gone through 3 in the last 4 years. I now have my optima yellow top ratchet strapped in as the battery holding strap keeps bloody braking.

On topic. Drove it to work and got *****ed at coz the rear door won't open for security checks as a snatch strap gave it a good whipping a few weeks back and dented it too bad to open. I think it broke the locking mechanism as the window hatch won't lock bu tthe door won't open! Gotta get it pulled out, or swap the door!

If mine breaks I'll probably fab something up made of metal...not sure how that will affect the battery but I'll do some research first

Yeah, I was thinking to get mine taken to a local shop and getting it replicated with thin steel/alluminum, but was concerned about the heat transfer. Maybe putting down some thin foam or something would help?

Has anybody seen one of these used before? I was thinking of ways to mount a second battery without it being in the engine bay and this seems like a good option.

I'm not for sure...I'll have to check it out...might take out the plastic it's on now and just cut it up and use the bottom of it and set it on top of the metal. like

Sounds good. The other thing I was concerned with is the vacuum box on the underside of the tray, but that could just be cut out and straped in I guess?!?

Saying that though, I have an optima and have seen some billet trays for the optima batteries that just get fixed to the original battery tray. May be somethign to look into.

They're great in the sand sabzz, but bears on the road. I've had them for about 18 months and the tread is at aroudn 50% and noisy as all hell!!! The almost constant summer don't help here either though.
They are an amazing offroad tire though. I've had them down to 6psi and ran for about 4-5 hours of non stop desert wheeling and they've never popped off the rim. As luck would have it though, the first wheeling trip I went on with them I ran over some big *** hard wood chunk and got a pair of "thorns" stuck in the side where the tread meets the biters. Punctured a tire and they still ran fro about an hour to get me out without a problem. I love them, but they are not a DD tire by any means.
