True old mopars are expensive to restore I have a 79 firebird with a 455 big block that's built and a 300 whp srt4 so performance wise I'm set. And a 74 Plymouth cuda so yeah it sucks to try and build em its not like a small block Chevy that's for sure. As far as the 4.0 its a great torque motor not high horsepower and that's fine its great for wheeling if you wanna make a 4.0 your wasting money. When you build something like that with to much power all your gonna do is break things. The 4.0 is fine as is with maybe a few mods to add some torque and fuel mileage but I wouldn't go out looking to make 300 HP with it

I built a Frankenstein oil cooled GSXR in college. 998 cc, forged internals, 135 HP, 14,000 rpm redline, and weighed under 400 lbs with a tank of gas. Once you've gone that fast, everything else is slow. But after my accident I couldn't ride it around the block without unbearable pain. So now, I Jeep. And I'm 100% ok with driving a 16 year old slow, heavy SUV like its a race car. It's something to do.

And I'm not the only go fast ZJ guy. Just one of the few that spends time on JeepForum.

On topic, purchased the 4" tubing for the intake. Now I just need some sheet metal and open ended filters in RED.

I want to build so many different ZJs. I would very much like to build a niner to out-handle a GC8. Total waste of money, but the goal isn't "build a car that's faster than a subaru" it's "build a Grand Cherokee that's faster than a subaru". Anything is possible with enough expenditure.

Of course, I don't have that kind of money. So balls to that idea.

My last one out handled my Maxima on coil overs and my SC with lowering springs and full poly bushings... You just have to lower that COG a little bit...

I'd take a wrx over the srt4 because at the end of the day you are still driving a neon.

People bust on neons all day everyday but when your daily driver that gets 30+ miles to the gallon and can run the quarter in high tens low 11s you can keep your craptastic Subaru's any idiot can launch and drive an awd car plus no matter what exhaust you put on a Subaru they all sound like a wet fart no thank you. And it may be a neon but it will blow the doors off a lot of things and I don't care what the haters say to many people underestimate these cars way to much. But I've had a long time hate for Subaru's so yeah lol don't know why I just hate them dont like anything about em never did never will. On the other hand my slave cylinder should be here for my jeep so I can finally get it back on the road after sitting for 2 months

Haha...there are a couple of newer WRX's around here with aftermarket exhaust, and I always think there's a diesel truck coming by because of the sound...
