contemplated a 5.3 LS swap on it. tired of the 4.0 and lack of power( well as much power as i wish it had)

pretty sure when/if the 4.0 ever bites the dust, a GM 5.3 will replace it.

Why no 5.3?

but i have not done it, merely contemplated as a possibility for the future. If i do, most likely will back it up with the entire GM drive train of a 4l60e, and the 241 (it it will fit), otherwise i would use a 231 from an s-series GM behind the 4l60e.

True I work at a speed shop/ garage I see a lot of Silverado's come in with 5.3s and seen a few over 200k so they must be a pretty reliable engine and plentiful. As far as transmission wonder if you could get an ax15 mated to it depends if you like a manual trans or not. Not sure bout the 4L60e hav3nt had luck with them around here lol had a few detonate and brake shafts and parking gears and what not the 5.3 is a reliable plentiful engine so it would most likely make a good swap.

I like a hand shaker, but the wife drives the jeep in the winter and does not.

but i had a 2003 Chevy with 226k on it and 100% factory drive train in it. the tranny was just showing signs of going out when i sold it but the engine ran like new.

Finally took her wheeling for the first time since i got my 4wd fixed. I was damn proud of her. She kept up with a locked wrangler and even out did it on this hill.

Agreed, i think the LSx Series is the SBC reborn. everyone is swapping them into everything.
