I bought my Orvis for 6 grand and I don't regret a penny. KBB is full of ****, always has been. It's not an indicator of what you should ask at all. A better indicator is what people are actually paying for similar vehicles in your area, adjusted against the rarity and quality of your particular vehicle.

The simple fact remains: the niner accelerates to 60 faster than the WK Hemi. I'm not super concerned with how it accomplishes this feat, so much that it does. Now, above 60, the Hemi will eat the niner up, and it has a significantly higher towing capacity and is definitely the more practical of the two V8s. However, given the choice I'd go with the ZJ, because WKs are rubbish.

Today, I flew past a Prius. I was doing the speed limit.

Oh boy! I bought mine almost a year ago! I have done a lot of things, but last week I:

1) Installed the Tow Hooks on the front bumper. With a little googling you can find a writeup on how to make it really cheap. Its really worth it.

2) Replaced the Thermostat Water Neck, Serpentine Belt, Replaced the broken/rusted Heater Return Tube with a Tube/Hose i made (I shoud do a writeup about that...), replaced the transmission fluid and filter, replaced the bearing of the AC Compressor Cluth.

3) Disconnected the sensor of the glass on the liftgate. To all the 98' ZJ owners out there: if your VIC keeps telling you the liftgate is open or your battery keeps draining all the time or the alarm goes off randomly when parked, kill it. Disconnect it, now! everytime you close the rear glass, it pushes the sensor, moving it to far and preventing the BCM to go in to sleep mode, draining you battery. Pushing the sensor back into place only works for a couple of weeks, so I really recommend doing this. And in case you are wondering, the glass will still be functional (closing, opening, locking). Just do it!

Now I have to replace the timing chain and replace the suspension control arms.

Let me guess, you didn't use actual tow hook brackets?

My guess is no brackets. Unless I know the ZJ came with hooks, the hooks were installed by me or with my help, or a lack of a bumper cover reveals the backing plates, I will not recover anyone using them.

If you're not using the proper tow hook brackets, you will rip them out of the unibody the first time you use them and do some nice damage in the process.

Here's what I see happening:

Somebody pulls up in front of the stuck ZJ, and a second person puts the tow strap on Warchild's ZJ, while directing the tow vehicle's driver. The tow vehicle driver then takes off to snatch Warchild, at which point the tow hook tears out of the unit frame catastrophically, hits the guy directing, breaking a bone, and flies through the rear glass of the tow vehicle.

Don't skimp on your recovery gear, kids.

EDIT: I spotted WJ4x4Life's ZJ on craigslist. D:

Better yet, don't get stuck!

Sometimes somebody else gets stuck and you need to use your recovery gear to pull them out.

Noticed that my baby has some LSD issues (i.e. no longer really LSD). Anyone know if the eBay kits are decent? Specifically http://www.ebay.com/itm/Dana-35-Ring...-/191000719340
I am fairly sure it needs a crush sleeve too since it didn't get one when I put a new yoke on it and has well over 100,000 miles since I put it in (no clue how many before then since the ZJ I got it from had an engine/interior fire).

No need to do anything but replace the clutch packs. No different than replacing spider gears with some added profanity

I look at it this way, I don't know how it was treated and would rather be safe than sorry.

Parked it on my snow mountain in front of my house. All this dang snow and no where left to put it. Getting tired of starring at the niner waiting for my control arms to get here. I'd rather be driving that in this crappy weather.
