Centering yoke was only about $45 from them IIRC.
Thanks for the info man, I'll def have to look into that

How long did it take to replace everything? I'm comfortable doing anything short of a engine, trans, or t-case rebuild lol.. I've sadly NEVER replaced a u-joint in my life tho..

Depends on what ya got for tools. If you have a balljoint press, or just a vice and a couple sockets, it could take a while. I have one of the little $70 harbor freight 6 ton shop presses. Its the perfect size for u joints, and i was able to knock it out in less than 2 hours(note that my shaft was already out of the jeep, so take into consideration R&R time). Its realy not hard to do at all, and HighLonesome has a nice writeup on it in the FAQ section. Good luck

EDIT: Also, i will add that the little $70 press has saved my nuts a few times now, its so compact it fits easily in the back of the jeep, and i've had to use it on the trail before to repair a rear driveshaft u joint(since i dont have SYE and cant drive without it).

Yea I read Highlonesome's write up on it, has alot of good info. I think I'll have to invest in one of those presses... Even if I only use it for this job, it payed for itself as far as I'm concerned.

It literally does pay for itself in this one use, IMO. I was curious and called around for some quotes and i had offers from $50-90 to press out/in 3 u joints, and install the centering yoke. And if you do any wheeling, you WILL break another u joint eventually, and this thing helps alot.

You just have to take it slow and carefully. The biggest mistake made with u-joints is crossing up the needle bearings inside the cup and squeezing down a cap on top of the needles. This will cause vibrations and and early death for a new u-joint.

I finally replaced the water pump on my ZJ.

There was no need in removing the AC, PS, ALT or any brackets. I removed the fan shroud & pulled it up to access the fan nut wrench % tap from hammer counter clockwise & it came off. Then, I removed the lower radiator hose, unbolted the pump, tapped out the bypass line, loosened the clamp on the upper hose, twisted the pump a bit & pulled up from the bottom & out it came.

I had to park slightly uphill & remove the radiator cap while idling to allow all the air to come out of the system. Had to add about a gallon of antifreeze while "burping" the system.

Everything went great & the ZJ runs at a steady 185 or so even when going up long, steep grades. Also replaced the serpentine belt.

That cage looks absolutely terrible. I hate the look of exo cages anyway, but that looks hideous, and all for show.

On a side note, I got my new steering painted and the ZJ ready to go to the shop tomorrow. Tomorrow I'll be rewiring the Taurus fan with the DC controller I have, installing new Crawlerready motor mounts, transmission mount, and hopefully new rear LCA's instead of the old LCA's with trashed bushings in them.
