Decided that I'm going to throw some 245/75R16s on it when I wear out my current set of A/Ts. Now just to decide between Duratracs and Toyo A/T IIs. I've also gotta figure out how tough it's gonna be to fit them (30.5" tall) without a lift...

I drive it to work and it removed me that I haven't changed the alt. The replacement I got from autozone has a bad bushing that chirps like an angry bird. And evidently there's a bad ground somewhere in my stereo system, or the alt has more than just a bad bushing. I'm getting engine noise through the speakers.

It should fit, if not toss a BB on it and call it good (for now)

That's not a solution, lol. It's my DD (and the 31s won't be on it all the time), so there's no way in hell I'm lifting it. It burns enough gas and handles badly enough already.

The bb really wont affect your handling too much and it wont be that big of a difference in fuel mileage by going to the 31s. Lifting a jeep no matter what kind it is is the only way to go

For the 1 - 2 times a year it gets wheeled, it's just not worth it (especially compared to the 15 - 25k street miles it sees in a year). When I retire it from DD duty at some point, then I might end up lifting it.

If you don't wheel it, you can clear up to 32" tires with minor scraping. 31" tires won't scrape at all in onroad situations. 30.5" should be no problem.

I drive mine stock height with 30x9.5's for a while(street duty) with no problem. Then with minimal rubbing with 31x10.5's. And no rubbing after I put on a bb. But I had no front bumper either, which can make a difference. It sounds like you should pick a tire size that won't be a problem, since you're not going to lift it.

The thought is that if I can make them fit, I'd like to go as big as I can for my offroad set. That extra bit of clearance under the Jeep will definitely help, considering how many rocks I smacked into the undercarriage and dragged across the rear diff the last time I wheeled it. Also, a 245/75R16 is a 30.5x9.7, so it should rub a bit less than a 31x10.5.
