Got my state inspection sticker....
Drove about 15 miles and smelled something burning....
Found my drivers side brake caliper literally on fire....flame and all.

Had to get it towed back home...I suspected a frozen bearing.
Replaced rotor and pads...........totally destroyed, caliper seems fine.
Pulled and inspected bearing hub...still good.
Passenger side tomorrow.

If the brakes are dragging chances are you have a caliper problem. Nothing else is going to cause the pads to lock on the rotor. Bearings have nothing to do with it.

Listen to platinum and replace the caliper. Mine did this once and I replaced the caliper. No problems in two years.

I'v had a brake hose go bad internally and allow a caliper to drag and smoke the pads on a neighbors JK.. with 40K miles. Read where others have had the issue as well.. but your right that chances are the culprit is the caliper.

Modified my ZJ caliper brackets to bolt up to my XJ D44 i'm building..

Got the new steering damper in and the steering wheel straight. May need a little more toe adjustment, but otherwise feels better.

Sent from...wait, where am I?

Might go down to 4 wheel parts near my house. Grand re opening!!! Free goodies with every purchase! I want the free 20' recovery strap. The question is, how much do I want to spend to obtain a free strap? What do I want? Motor mounts. Fog lamps. Rear track bar. I'm not to into 4 wheel parts they're expensive and have very few zj accessories.

Happens a lot on lines that have steel brackets to hold them. The steel bracket rusts and actually crimps the line shut.

My goal today is to finish my bumper and install it.

Trying to decide on tire size 31 or 32...everything I found on running 32's on 355 gears was pretty much a toss up, some say it's not bad some say terrible gas mileage and power loss. I don't plan on any swaps or gearing and I'm currently at 3" lift with likely doin 1"-1.5" spacers...what do you guys think?

That'd be 4-4.5" of lift, are you prepared to upgrade everything else that'll come with that?

At 4-4.5" lift you need new upper and lower rear control arms, atlease new lower front control arms, longer brake lines, you should already have adjustable track bars but if you dont you will need them also front and rear, possibly longer shocks than what came with your 3" lift, just be ready to lay out a lot more money for that extra 1-1.5"

I wouldn't run 32's on 3:55 gears. That would suck. You could pedal your bike faster from a stop
