WEll I changed read driveshaft u-joints annnd trimmed front fenders back a couple inches

Changed the rear gear oil to royal purple 75-140 (limited slip diff). It used to bind up in tight turns and now, it doesn't. Not sure if that's good or bad, but the fact that it doesn't scrub in the parking lot anymore is nice. I also panted the cover and tow hooks with a Chrysler red paint. I figured I'd keep with the Chrysler color options. Will do front diff next weekend.
Of course, now that I've done that, my rear hatch wants to stick making it difficult to open. Oh well, such is life of a jeep owner aye?

Side note, I've never changed diff fluid before, I bought way too many quarts, per the suggestion of the counter monkey. Apparently the capacity chart is in pints not quarts. I filled the diff until just before it spilled out of the fill hole. About 2 & 1/2 quarts give or take a little, does that sound right? Dana 44a.

Put new K&N performance air filter in, replaced all brake pads, replaced PCM, replaced read door panel & pins, put on the newish Goodyear Wrangler Radials 235/75/15, restored clarity to headlights/taillights, replaced alternator, replaced rear wiper blade........waiting on new borla catback exhaust, and on Monday pickin up another set of 235/75/15 on explorer rims......in the spring im gonna replaced all the electrical components in tranny....you'd think shed be purring right now.....but not yet....

Well yesterday...put 1000 lbs. of cement in the trunk to do a fence job that will buy me 32s, pretty sure I need new brakes now

Yes that is perfect. I fill until it starts to weep slowly out of the fill hole.

So while doing my rear diff I think I located my oil leak, it appears to be coming from the oil pan gasket. I have some left over rtv. What's the worst that would happen if I rtv'd around the oil pan?

RP is good stuff. It's got a lot of friction modifier in it so that's what made your track loc quiet probably. It's letting the clutches slip more.

The worst that could happen is that it continues to leak and you make a big mess.

Put a new water pump, thermostat, and bypass hose on. Flushed the entire system too to make sure there were no clogs and the system was pretty clean. I had very little rust come out. Not bad for a 15 yr old jeep

Pulled and cleaned my tb and iac and was surprised to see no oil pooling in my intake. Turn noticed the ****ty wiring job I did for my lights so I pulled them and gonna redo/clean up that tomorrow. Looks so weird to me with just the rack up top now

You wont see oil pooling in the intake unless the gasket is VERY bad. The plenum gasket is bad though either way. They only last MAYBE 30k miles. They did a recall on them many years ago, fixed them, they failed again, Jeep did nothing. The only way to properly fix it is ti use the aluminum belly pan. Just replacing the gasket is pointless. When i bought my 5.9 i got a stack of receipts with it. 5 receipts for the plenum gasket in 163K miles plus the first one done under warranty at 36k miles. I replaced it again which makes it the 7th time but i did it right using the aluminum plenum pan and a Mopar gasket set. No problems yet and that was over 30k miles ago.

Oh I know all about the plenum issues on the magnum engines. Went through it on my '97 ram with the 360. When I first got the Jeep, it was running a little rough just like the ram before I did the plenum fix with Mopar gaskets and a Hughes aluminum pan so I did the repair on the Jeep too. Its just a habit of checking when I'm under the hood.
I always second guess myself when I'm working on vehicles, even though I've never had to go back and fix a previous repair lol

Ah ok i didnt know you did the repair already. The Hughes pan is great but there are other pans you can get for a lot cheaper and they are just as good. I have the Hughes AirGap manifold for my 5.9, it's going in with the new engine along with a lot of other goodies.
