Hey, is the HP30 something that can bolt up to a D44a axle like on my LTD ZJ? Or would it make more sense to swap the entire axle & get the HP30 at the same time? Wondering if that would be a worthwhile upgrade for the Blackbird or not...

Your swap looks CLEAN & Nice '95 BTW

A High Pinion Dana 30 is a whole front axle. It's pinion is higher than a normal Dana 30 and it's a bit stronger. It is a direct bolt in.

A D44a is a whole different rear axle.

Oh, it was on your FRONT, that makes more since why it's a HP30, not a 35 The pics made me think it was on your rear D35 (upgraded at some point or is that original on your ZJ?) but now that I looked back at that 3rd pic, it all makes more sense

That said, good to know it's a direct bolt-in, sounds like a pretty easy swap although it obviously may take some time off the ol'clock to finish up!

I'm definitely aware of the (my) D44a only on the rear, having replaced 1 axle rod already after it bent from a snake bite curb under a foot of snow a few winters ago.

So essentially, I'd have to find a HP44 or swap out the axle housing entirely (say to a non-aluminum D44 or a D35) in order to upgrade to High Pinion, correct or no?

@970001ZJ - that's VERY impressive! My tranny is an original housing but complete overhaul ran me $2K at 151K miles, so it has 58K on it.
Definitely hope my 318 gets me to that 300K mark! Your ZJ gives me hope!

You don't need or want a high pinion in the rear. Not even sure they make one. Never heard of it.

Got the tank back up with the new fuel pump finally. Waited almost 2 weeks for the fuel filler neck and hoses, they were almost a week late arriving...

Seems like it might be running a little better than with the old pump. Though the problem was the check valve on the old pump not a completely dead or dying pump, so I will see how fast she starts up now after sitting overnight.

Now the passenger front power door lock doesn't work, makes a weird noise but doesn't lock or unlock. So that is probably the next project.

Ordered a 2.25" BB today, the temporary fix until I collect all lift parts. Adjusted my fog lights so that they point at the ground and not in the trees.
