Thanks man! I had some blue paint left from doing my diff covers so I figured. Why not!

Well I'm gonna replace the seal, then just bend the slinger back and give it some shape, then throw it back on.
I may order a new one when I get paid again, I'll see if I can salvage the old one at all.

Took it wheeling. It died on me, won't start, F'd with it for awhile. Gave it the old right cross treatment and called it a day.

Your rig looks the same color as mine. Its hard to have any color next to that grey besides black that looks good

Ya it is a hard color to find stuff that would look good for sure, sometimes I wish I had a different color rig. At the end of the day just about everything I wanna put on it would end up being black regardless of the body color anyway so I guess it works out... My plans for next spring include either plastidipping or bed lining most of the body black so maybe ill find something else to throw in the mix for the underside at that point lol.

Yea. Jus shut down. Cruising along on a sandy trail about 30 or so then my power steering was gone.(radio was kinda loud) so I checked the temp and killed the key. Thought I lost a belt.

Don't think so. Motor is brand new.....less then 10k. Not getting any spark. I'm running down the dirty dozen....hope it helps

Drove it for the first time in a week. I think I've identified the engine noise as piston slap. Not sure what I intend to do about it. Probably let it run its course. If she pops the engine, I'll rebuild it if possible or source an engine to rebuild, then rebuild that. I doubt it will- a little piston slap never killed a 4.0. The GMC's been running with piston slap for thousands of miles. Even the Jeep's had it as long as I've owned her.

I need some paper, dawg.

Man I'm posting a lot in here, guess waiting isn't my strong point, gotta have something to do with the zj...

So i got my seal for my 231, and damn it somehow the damn thing isn't the right part! Guess I'm going back to autozone tomorrow...

Also, I noticed something weird about driveshaft lengths.

Today I went and measure my friends 98 zj (5.2 w/ d44) rear driveshaft. It measured 35" from u-joint to u-joint.

I got home and measure my rear driveshaft from my 95 zj (5.2 w/d35). It measured 32" from u-joint to -joint.

I thought the d44 pinion was supposed to be longer, thus equaling a shorter driveshaft for the rear?? Anybody know why this discrepancy?

We both had the np249 (In the process of getting rid of mine). I'm pretty sure I'm going to need to shorten my driveshaft anyways. Well theres my rant.

The 93 - 95 5.2 uses the 46RH trans (hydraulic governor), while the 96 - 98 uses the 44RE (electronic governor). The RH tranny is a few inches longer (more than the difference between D35 and D44a), hence the shorter driveshaft.
