Pulled the belt off to see if i could fix the squeaking. The flat side was all sticky and I saw belt material left on the idler pulley and water pump pulley, like it was melted on. I used goo-gone on the pulleys and put my spare belt on, which was smooth as a baby's bottom on the flat side. No squeaks, screeches or squeals. Proceeded to taking my daughter in it to the local pond to practice her fishing with her tinkerbell pole. She loves it but we need to work on her cast before we take the Styrofoam hook off .

one of jeeps greatest idea's is using flexible plastic for the bottom half of the car. why is it a good idea you say? because thats where i always take hits off road and i can fix it whith my hand and a spray can. when my buddys front bumper ripped of we grabbed self taping screws and 4 screws later it was back on lol

I drove it today in the Lowell, IN Labor Day Parade with the Northwest Indiana Jeepers. I was happy the fan didn't let the temp creep up beyond normal (a tick below 210 is where mine has always sat). I didn't have to use the high speed and actually had it in 4 low and 1st gear for a lot of the parade just to make the exhaust a little louder for the audience.

A guy from our club took some pics of you guys and posted them on fb. Were you in front of a tan xj at one point?

OT: spent $21 at the power wash getting all the mud off from everything. I think that's the cleanest it's been underneath since new.

Not technically today, but yesterday: Replaced gear oil in the d30 & d35, with new gaskets; removed all 3 wiper arms, and factory roof cross bars, which all got sanded and repainted satin black; pulled grille and did the home-made "billet grille mod," came out decent for a $.96 can of satin black spray paint, and used leftover screen scraps and a die grinder. Looks pretty decent now.

Took apart and cleaned the junkyard headlight switch I got last week. Went ahead and soldered all the pins on the circuit board. Got it and the heated seat switch installed at the same time.

Also installed a new belt tensioner and finally got rid of that damned squeeking. For the first time since I've owned it the belt is whisper quiet.

Next up is new lower control arm bushings.

Pics of my transfer case skid plate install from yesterday

img_20130902_144733-01.jpg

Also today installed my not chopped up front splash guards I got from the junkyard yesterday. Painted my gas tank skid I had from previous Junkyard trip

img_20130902_144652-01.jpg

And pulled my hitch to find this after a few hours with a wire brush, a grinder, and a hammer

img_20130902_144708-01.jpg

So this week I'm looking into pricing thick tube to essentially make a new hitch. I'm going to add 1/4 flat steel to the sides for strength too. And then weld brackets for pins and shackles to the bottom so I have rear tow points. If I'm gonna do it, might as well go all in on it lol.

Yep, still around, just been crazy busy the last year or so.

Last weekend was replacing the Teraflex 3.5" lift springs with 4.5" RE. The Jeep rides a lot stiffer now, and it's uniform height again.

I'm glad my leaky timing cover prompted a reseal job. The old chain had almost a full inch of play. It starts and runs much better now.

My old tired Harbor Freight compressor was only able to get the cooling system vacuum set to pull about 22 lbs of vacuum, but it held it for 3 minutes, then the nozzle showed leakdown. I finally have a sealed cooling system...woohoo!

I highly recommend this tool for an air-free cooling system:

Here's the first Google hit on where to buy it. You can get it through Sears too.

Did a 35 mile offroad run that took about 6 hours with a group - mostly Wranglers, but she did okay. Definitely need better tires and to get my skids back on. Had a couple "clunks" from rocks underneath that made me grimmace! Nevertheless, had fun doing it.
