Noticed the spot right under the ignition key hole is padded so your keys don't rattle on the steering column. I guess I do learn something new every day lol.

Also took the dogs for a cruise out to the parents.

Just filled the front differential with oil, due to worn out driver's side axle seal. Temporary fix til next paycheck to actually get new seals.

Put a new d30 under the front, discovered more problems. I think the VC in the t-case is bad, anyone know the signs of a bad VC?

All about that unibody life.

Take it to a parking lot with enough room for you to do some figure 8's and you'll know the vc is bad if it binds or hops in the turn

Rolled it into the shop, pulled the driver's side door, and after a little grinding, and a little work with the MIG, I have new hinge pins and new bushings. Closes with one finger now, no sag.

Also put the gauges on the AC, and grabbed the soapy water and UV light to see where it was leaking. Lowside port. Replaced the port, still had enough R134 in the system to short-cycle the compressor. Recharged it until I was getting a solid 55 psi off the lowside port, and cold air inside.

Took my new tires on my new-to-me jeep and headed for an ATV trail down the road from the house. This non-lifted stock ZJ acted like it was bored. Ho hum. Said it to me, "What is this, the dirt road to grandma's house?" Going to have to try something harder. It did climb a nice steep (45 degree) hill though.

It does that for sure. Binding, popping, wheels hopping and absolutely no grab in the front end when you punch it...

All about that unibody life.

Resealed the timing cover, and did the chain and sprockets while I was at it. It was pretty sloppy.

Not a tough job, but the factory gasket is crazy hard to strip off completely. Die grinder with a nylon scouring wheel made quick work of it.

Letting the RTV set overnight, then oil change and refill the coolant.
