Found out that my alternator is on its last leg. I'm planning on doing the Durango 160amp alternator swap. I've got a 1997 Grand Cherokee, and from what I have read a 2001-2003 Durango Alternator will be a direct swap with some electrical wire work.

But, will an alternator work from a Ram and which year/model of Ram will work?

Didn't want to start a new thread. Usually people read these and respond.

Thanks,
Jake

My alt. went out last year and i took one off of a 5.9 dodge pickup so any 5.2/5.9 motor from 94-02 should work. Not sure if there are differences in the obd and obd2 alternators.

Thanks a lot, I live about 1 1/2 hours away from the nearest pull-a-part and usually the vehicles are pretty bare by the time I can find time to get there. So having more of an idea of what vehicles to go through is very helpful. I plan on running dual batteries soon and with my alternator going out I figure I should upgrade the stock 90amp to push two batteries.

Thanks,
Jake

Just ordered 4 new BFG AT 31's after I blew one of my generals on the trail last weekend and had to pull the front DS to get home!

Gonna keep two of the generals for spares since I have a spare 15" jeep rim that was pretending to be my niners spare.

gave it to my dad for 30mins, he came back, gave me the keys and literally ran upstairs, locking himself in the house. (???)
he is usually a very conservative and boring dude, never heard a joke from him so i was quite confused, not knowing what i can expect.

went up to ask him what did he do after i took a fast visual inspection at the jeep, he said (without opening the door) that a weird noise magically appeared coming from the front left wheel.... aaaaaaaaaaaaand there goes a joint.

im never giving it to anyone else anymore. dad says its payback for years of abusing his cars. end he is still smiling. seems we have a different view on what's funny.

Ordered my new front sway bar end links from RockAuto. If I have to struggle to do one, I might as well do both since if I don't the drivers side will break shortly after I'm done with the passenger side.

Called IRO about my blown out trac bar bushings and they were as surprised as I was to hear that thing had blown out after only a month. They were cool about it though and shipped me a new one which I was stoked about.

On a side not has anyone else had this issue with the adjustable double shear trac bar, or any other trac bar for that matter? I did some searching around last night but couldn't find much of anything about trac bar bushing s going bad on a regular. The dude at the 4 wheel shop I took it to said its a super common problem with xj's and zj's and the only permanent solutions were either a $100 aluminum bushing which would be if it were road use only that he could fab up or a heim joint set up that would cost like $400. I told him I wasn't interested in either for now but if its a regular thing the heim joint setup might not be a bad idea just to avoid constantly changing the bushings.

I got a 150amp from autozone. It was a direct replacement except the pulley was one rib too skinny. Swapped them and no problems.

Changed the oil & t-case fluid on prep for my trip to Chicago @ 3:am Fri. This will be the real test of my axle rebuild for those of you following that thread. While changing t case fluid had to replace a nutsert on the frame rail for the skid plate.

Replace my front shocks today, and fixed my rear ones because I didn't know the rough country 2.2 ones mount upside down ha. Rides better than it did. Looking forward to doing the ball joints and tie rod ends this weekend and my cracked exhaust manifold and valve cover gasket and rear main seal if I have time ;p

I welded the lip of my nutsert to the uniframe to prevent it from ever spinning. I have had the skid off a couple times since with no issue. I also used a stainless bolt in the uniframe so it wouldn't rust. When I got my skid, I read some horror stories about the nutsert spinning when you try to remove it.
