I finished pulling all my carpet forward of the back seats. Filled my shop vac with old candy, sunflower seeds and other bits of trash. Then I doused the floor boards with simple green and removed a think layer of goo. While the seats were out, I fixed, as in permanently set, the drivers seat as far back as it would go. I need an extra seat so I can tear mine down and rebuild them.

Took the niner and wife wheelin for the first time. Somehow broke a washer fluid hose somewhere and it leaks right out now. Not sure if I'm happy that's all I broke or that the wife went and had fun....I guess it's a win both ways.

Had to go pick up a friend from little rock today since her boyfriend was too hung over to do it himself...
But I've only got 56 more miles to go

44RE output seal.

400 miles after my 249/242 swap, transmission output starts pissing ATF.

Easy job, had the T-case out in 45 mins and the seal was cake.

Did a long overdue tune up today.
None of the DS spark plugs would come out unless I used a 1/2" drive ratchet with a 2' long pipe on the end of it.
They fought me every thread of the way.
Passenger's side plugs came out with a 3/8 drive ratchet alone!
Distributor cap screws were seized, as well as the screwdriver slot in them was stripped....
Had to bust the cap off so I could put a socket on the screws and back them out and hoped that they wouldn't break off. Thankfully they didn't!!!
Then the rotor was stuck to the distributor in a big way. After trying to pull it off by hand, I finally decided to score it with a razor knife until I cut all the way through it.
Cleaned up the shaft with emery cloth and still had to fight to get the new rotor on....
Finally got the damn thing back together and it wouldn't start...
Realized I had put the new wires on starting with the #1 plug wire on where the new cap was marked "1".
Stupid me, never bothered to see if the 2 caps were marked "1" on the same post......
They were marked "1", alright, but they were 2 posts apart from each other...
Anyway, with new cap, rotor, wires(installed on the CORRECT posts) and 8 new plugs gapped to .035"(the old ones were .042" to .052" gap) she starts instantly, idles smooth and has more power!!

Checked the IAC motor and it looked almost new(on the inside, not the outside) and was hardly discolored at all.

Also tightened my TV cable one more click.
Much better, but it still shifts from 1st to 2nd a lot sooner than I'd like when above half throttle.

Took 'er for a spin in the mountains... And got shot at. I kid you not, we came around a corner after having eaten someone's dust for a couple miles, and pulled up behind a nice gray Silverado 2500. I wasn't all that close, but I could see cowboy hats through the headache rack. 2 seconds later, I see a hand fly out the back window with something in it and start hearing popping sounds. I don't think I've ever locked up the wheels until this afternoon... Jammed my girlfriend's head under the dash and followed suit. When I was sure neither of us were bleeding, I pulled off the road and turned my CB to channel 9, you know, just in case. Then I got out and checked the front of the Jeep. Nothin'. Got back in and sat there for the tensest 30 minutes of my life. When I was convinced I wouldn't have to do any firing of my own, that they were actually out of the picture for a bit, I started 'er back up, waited for a couple more minutes, and slowly made my way back into town, easing into every blind corner to make sure I wasn't gonna get pummeled by a barrage of pistol fire...

That was the worst drive I have ever taken. I have never had the "I'm gonna die" feeling ever until today, and let me tell you, it is not a good feeling. If I had to explain it, it was a constant sinking feeling in the gut, a cold sweat, shaking and lots of swearing under the breath. On the other hand, I've never seen my girl that white before, and she has a gorgeous tan going on right now... Watching that hand come out of the truck and the next second seeing nothing but carpet and hoping the front of your Jeep doesn't have a bunch of holes in it was horrible. The thing that bugged me the most was that my girlfriend was in the vehicle next to me. I couldn't have explained to her parents why she was lying in a hospital bed with gun-shot wounds had she actually gotten hit. Honestly, the fact that they didn't hit us at all is a miracle to me...

Filled out a police report when we got back into town, so now there is apparently a BOLO for the truck out there. The only thing I could give the deputies was the description of the truck: Gray Chevy Silverado 2500 crew cab with a black headache rack. Montana Highway Patrol, Jefferson County Sheriffs Office, Lewis and Clark County Sheriffs Office, Helena PD, Boulder PD, and Butte PD are all now actively searching for the guy... If they find him, I may not be the first to know, but I definitely won't be the last, especially with how many law enforcement officers I know around here.

Lucky to still be alive, I guess... and still have a radiator and windshield that are intact. No idea why he decided to start shooting... I just pulled up behind him and bang, out of nowhere. Oh well...

So that's my story for today!

Legitimately fixed my door hinges and latches finally. Change the oil(mobile1) and filter(mopar). And desperately waited for Monday to order the OME HD springs and Bilstiens from KOLAK.

Pulled the front driveshaft on my niner. Drives great now! I feel like I've tasted the first fruits of my pending 242 swap.

Blew the little water pump bypass hose on the way to work. At least I know what I'm doing tonight now.
