As long as it won't hurt anything I'm fine with it.
I know a guy with a 242 and 231 case I could buy off him. Just gotta decide which route I want to go or if I just want to rebuild my 249

The 249 is a great case as long as you don't need 2wd because you're lunched in the front.

Squealing is normally bearings. My bearings were do bad you could barley spin it by hand.....went to O'Riellys for one.

Oil change with 6 quarts of rotella T6 and a pure one filter as usual. There isn't to much left to fix on her before I can it and put some real tires on. Just a bad brake line, engine/trans mounts and a suspected rear carrier bearing (last one will be an issue though).

I filled her up with gas, fluids are/ were good, did a 80 mile cruise hitting 75 - 85, no issues, until the home exit. Her volt meter dropped to around 10 volts, I pulled off the highway to complete my errands, no start after a short stop.
I had replaced the bat cables early in my ownership! Now this is a sign of a true airhead, My new cables were laying beside the OE cables, but the old cables were still hooked up. Obviously a easy fix, .... but, ...I gotta lay off the "shine".

Entirely possible, 60's - 80s were fun! At least I think they were! On a side note, I can still "roll' and drive better than most can text and drive! I just find a well lit area and stop.

I put some jk rubicon take offs on with 1.25" adapters. Took off my 5.9 lower balance and the small plastic trim on the front of the rear wheel well. Now for some leveling spacers and a winch.

Before

After (is not parked on level ground)
