I attribute my sticky latch to the bad stoppers, but the metal is all in good condition there. I think the factory ones last forever then the Dorman replacements suck. They need to put some type of warranty on them. $5 a pop with how often these wear out is gonna kill me.

my rear latch won't even open unless i turn the key to just the right angle and push on the gate and pull the latch at the same time...not to mention I get smacked in the head if I forget to put the 2x4 in to hold it up.

OT: when your door falls closed if you're on even the slightest hill, usually smacking you in the a** or the shin!

Use vice grips instead. It won't get in the way and as long as you clamp the piston tightly it won't get knocked off.

My phone shut off when I went to take a pic as it turned 204,000.0......
By the time it turned back on, I was home. So it's not as pretty as all zeros at the end

I have a set of vice grips in the back just for that. The stay in the side pocket so they are the right size every time

I'll be doing this next time I open my tailgate. It caught me in the back with the corner yesterday and I almost threw a wrench at it.

I must agree. Never changed mine once. Their in fine shape and I only get rattles on horrible washboard roads.

You gotta order them through them, but yeah. And they ended up being a few ¢ less than RockAuto. I usually shop at RA but these were a pretty good deal with less wait time.
