No suggestions or help for my death wobble issue? Just truong to figure out if you guys have had it and what solved it. I'm thinking either the track bar or gear box. But its my DD and its so bad I don't want to even drive it until this is fixed...

Could be number of things from what I've heard and read. Best bet is the search button or maybe even make your own "another DW thread" thread. This ain't the place for something that technical.

But I've yet to have it, so what do I know?

Actual death wobble is caused by the track bar bushing and/or the TRE that's at the body side.

Thats good to know. I was going to start with replacing the track bar, getting a beefier steering stabilizer, and possibly rebuilding/replacing the gear box. Do any of you by chance have a link to rebuilding the gear box? Am I better off rebuilding or replacing?

Thank you!

Adjustable track bar and new steering stabilizer fixed my wobble

Okay so you guys know how a few weeks back I was having a shimmy in my steering. Which was fixed by rebalance on the tires. Well last night I played in some mud. Way home last night no problems. This morning on the way to town to wash the jeep I got death wobble. Washed the jeep good. Def had some mud in the rims got it all out and went on my way. The way home. No death wobble. My question is, can a full on death wobble be caused by out of balance tires(from mud). My steering is all tight ect.

A big jeep enthusiast just told me before I replace to align before I replace another part. I remember you guys mentioning a "driveway alignment" a while back. Is there a write up for this? Much appreciated.

No it can't. DW is the uncotrolled ascillation of the front axle. Only parts that serve to locate the axle can cause it.

TRAVASS: Alignment won't cure your death wobble. Neither will a steering stabilizer. You need to address the issues with the trackbar.
