Exactly the reason my father didn't want me getting a bike. Yet, he owns one also. But I got one anyways. I love my zj but my bike is my true baby.

Lol meant for my Daily Driver TSi. I have come to the conclusion the Laredo isn't leaving the driveway this season. I am designing rock sliders/ roll cage supports as we speak. They will link the roll cage to sub frame, as well as serve as sub frame stiffeners, and serve as a base for the flat belly skids/boat sides. As of now they will be bolt on with 3x3 angle backer plates( base for belly skid). But when the 5.2 TSi gets retired as the DD, they will be welded onto it. I am also in the process of designing a 15gallon ( roughly calculated) OBA tank front bumper and roll cage tie in and fairlead/winch mount..

Anyway my basic question should have been " How have others safely anchored their newborn child's rear facing safety seat in their daily Driver ZJ?"

My '70 Jeepster Commando was so rusty, the body slid around on the frame rails and swayed at every turn. That's how we rocked my first daughter to sleep, although it could have been a exhaust leak that knocked her out. We didn't have "child seats", we DID have tire swings!
Let us know what you figure out. My daughter will not let me haul my grandson without the child seat. She still likes the tire swing though!

When my daughter was in a rear facing car seat still, I just put the car seat in the middle (state law here anyways) and tightened the middle buckle TIGHT. Didn't move at all after that. Some car seats come with addition straps so you can anchor the head side down somewhere. The seat I used didn't have this so. It did have an adjustable ange feature. One side of the base could pivot out to bring the car seat as level as possible. Pulled that sucker all the way out and it still wasn't completely level in my zj.

Well I haven't posted in a while sorry to say, but I had an accident, I was exiting a large parking lot and this idiot was coming straight for me so I was paying attention to him and not my drivers side and I sideswiped a concret lamp post denting my drivers side front door at the fender and door post pretty badly, I replaced the door but it's about an inch out of alignment, I can get the door closed and locked but still has a huge gap and it's hanging only by the upper hinge, the door and fender has to come off and see if I can put a come along on the door post and a telephone pole and see if I can pull it out, if I can't I'll have to talk it to Maaco and have them do it, I just don't have the $300.00 to do it, in the fall I had to replace the drivers side ball joints upper and lower, they were so bad that if they hadn't been pressed in and rusted tight the wheel would have fallen off, it took the guy 3days the get them removed, had to take a air chisel to cut it off with heat! We bent the ball joint tool! That is one backyard mechanic job I would NOT do, that is one job it's worth paying a shop to do! While I was at it I changed the front brake rotors, steering damper and track bar control link, later this year I'm going to replace all rotors and pads with slotted and drilled rotors and ceranmic pads. And I'm thinking about puttin heated seats in if I can find the inserts cheap enough.

ZJs don't have the anchor points for car seats. Nor do the rear seatbelts lock when you pull them out all the way. The buckle has the child seat safety feature built in. Once there is a pressure applied on the lap part of the belt, you cannot pull any more of it through. The middle is the safest though. When I had my daughter in my ZJ, I had her in the middle.

I broke one on my driver seat when I was removing them. An impact would have prevented it in my case, I think. In any case, what I did was drill it out and retap the nut that's welded to the bottom of the Jeep.

Easy fix. Just drill it out, have a helper hold a nut under the Jeep and use a bolt and nut to re-install the seat.
