It did cost plenty, $259 parts and $659 labor.
I think it was fare if you asked me. But I should be set for a while
Don't get me wrong it's a lot of money but it is worth it. My ZJ is in excellent shape. Everything works, electric, mechanic and perfect interior. This ZJ was a city queen for all its life, driven by a soccer mom.
Ordered a O2 sen, coil, copper champion plugs, and some wires. Maybe ill get out of the 7mpg range soon, if not ill be limited on the trips for a while
Yeah that is terrible mpg, but imo you woulda been better off with another brand of plugs. Champions, in my past experiences, are a terrible plug. Not sure whats out there for the zj's, but would rather go with ngk over anything like champion or autolite.
Big Gulps huh? Alriight! Welp, see you later!
Spent $0 installing a new head unit, I pulled the unit out of an explorer that someone gave me to scrap. Traced and soldered every wire, no diagrams or adapter connectors, they didn't fit the budget of free
Industrial strength velcro is holding it down, had some extra laying around

thought i was getting my ZJ back from the shop today... but they faked on me again. so they extended the date a second time. pretty mad about that, i was counting on having it this weekend.
anyways... im real nervous about the amount of work, right now shes getting a new power steering pump, PS fluid flush, new valve cover gaskets, oil change, front end alignment, horn wire harness and fuse replaced, and all my trans cooler lines tore out and replaced. ive been without it for a week and two days now. im going into withdrawal. im out of the denial stage and im into the "sit at home on a dip and coffee binge, reading diesel world in my pajamas on a saturday" stage. OT: picked up Bosch Icon Wiper blades for it today, anyone have good luck with these?
Went to Oreillys and got 2 new 3rd brake light bulbs and a gallon of washer fluid. Filled the fluid up and replaced the bulbs right in the parking lot there.
Was stoked that VIC finally STFU.
Couple miles later down the road... Check Engine light comes on the dash and it has a lack of power, idles like crap, and exhaust smells funny. WTF
I hate my Jeep more than I like it some times...
Im going to take it to Autostoned tomorrow to pull codes. Hopefully it makes it there and back fine and doesnt quit running or stall out on me or something stupid...
Went to Oreillys and had them pull codes since the key dance doesnt work on my ZJ for some retarded reason. (I am doing it properly too, I owned other Chryslers that the key dance did work on...)
P0171 Fuel System Too Lean Bank 1 (I have I6 so not sure if its the upstream or downstream sensor)
The cat light was flashing on the scanner (wondering if this is to indicate the o2 sensor associated with the cat)
Have 3 of the common symptoms of this code:
Lack of power (consistant lack of power)
Poor idle (not consistantly bad but idles poor at times)
Hesitation upon acceleration (only a tiny bit from each dead stop at a stop sign or light)
Since the cat was replaced about 23k ago with a Magnaflow unit I assume that the cat is fine and it probably has a bad o2 sensor?
The guy recommended having a shop back pressure test the cat and check the o2 sensor. I am the kind of guy to DIY diagnostics and fixing of problems so any input/help would be great.
