"safety first"

Many years ago I went to visit a friend who was doing some front suspension work on his '68 Barracuda Hard Top. I found him in the barn pinned to the floor, jack stand sticking through the floor, broken cement block was the only thing still holding the car up. His dad and I used a hay bale winch to lift the car enough to get him out. Lucky for him the barn floor sagged right where he was laying.
Senior Skip Day would have really sucked without him!!

Those are great. Way overbuilt. I have a set on mine. A little bit of motor feel in the cabin though. I am going to take apart the dash and put some insulation on the screws.

Yes sir that is why I am swapping tcase on mine. Finally got sick of dealing with a shot vc and the accelerated tire wear.

You can get a viscous coupler to replace it with for around $300 on ebay if you were looking for a "cheap" replacement.

The 249 is a strong case and does good at what its designed to do with a properly working viscous coupler but I would rather not deal with the viscous coupler anymore in the future and a 2wd option would be nice so Im opting to swap it.

You probably will too.

BTW nice Jeeps

If you aren't ready for a 242 / 231 swap yet, I've got the original (105k miles, VC is still good) 249 from my 5.9 collecting dust in my partents' garage. It's yours for whatever it costs to get it to you if you want it.

I would think you can replace the existing dimmer with a potentiometer from radio shack. I'm trying to find the resistance value for the existing pot...
