The Western Union solder joints turned out nice!

OT: these wheels have been on my rig for the last 9 months, I hope my front end vibe is coming from a miss balanced tire and not the front DS. There was a spot on the inside front driver that looked to clean near the other weights, probably lost a weight in a mud pit...

Save those you never know when you are going to bend one up on a rock like I did. First time out with my new arms and destroyed one.

2 Things:

1. Doing some research on speedo gears, and all of the speedo gears I'm finding online say 93-xx. I have a 231 out of what I was told a 93 xj, but I think the build date on the case is 92, which does make sense. But my question is, will a new speedo gear fit? I remember when I did the swap, the two speedo gears didn't look quite the same, one of them was longer than the other. I will have to take it out to look, but I was just wondering if anybody knew.

2. I have an exhaust leak somewhere in the engine bay on the passenger side. I had a little wheeling mishap where a stump yanked my exhaust y pipe forward while someone pulled me off of it, and I believe I may have damaged the manifold. I circled 2 spots where it might be coming from. The first one looks like a crack, but then again, it also looks like a ridge from it being molded, because it flows off of that corner its next to. The second spot looks to be EGR related. That's where I really think the leak may be coming from because of what looks to be carbon. Those were the only 2 spots I could see.

Anybody have any opinions, advice, etc.?

Speedo gears com ein either a short shaft or long shaft, you just have to buy which one you have.

Freestyle, that manifold looks to have a pretty nasty crack in it. It's probably toast.

Is that something that can be welded? Obviously I'm not gonna try and do it, but my uncle is a welder by trade and I was planning on taking my 8.8 to him to weld the artec truss on, and if its something that can be welded, I'll take it with me.

Possibly, but welding cast iron is very tough to do, and it's even tougher to get it to last.

It can be welded by a very skilled welder with the right arc welder and low hydrogen rod, a kiln or nice size rose bud for preheating and some sort way to allow it to cool very slowly. Even this will eventually break if not properly tempered.

Time to invest in headers or hit the jy. My 4.0 is cracked in like 6 places.

Keep in mind, headers for a 5.2/5.9 in a ZJ aren't cheap or easy to get, unless you find a used set. The only bolt-in solution that doesn't require making a custom y-pipe and isn't discontinued is the Doug Thorley setup (includes y-pipe), which runs almost $800, IIRC. Plus, they only do a production run every 12 - 18 months when they have 25 orders stacked up.
