Took the cross bars off for the roof rack took less than 10 minutes.

Took out the 270a HO alt and put the stocker back in took about an hour.

Going to sell it on the car audio forum I frequent since I am selling most of my stereo equipment.

Its a Mechman 270a with adjustable voltage boost module (AVBM) allows you to run 12, 14, 16, and 18v charging systems on the alternator. I had my charging system set at 14.8. $550 new was going to ask $280 shipped since its only a year old.

Very nice. I wish I could weld but I cant and dont have any metal fab tools anyway. My only options are the ECGS 8.8 which is a bit pricey or LetzRoll Off Road in Mesa does 8.8s for Jeeps too might check them out since they are only about 4 hour drive away maybe cheaper than ECGS.

Had an appointment with the local off road shop about installing my new lift and axles. Getting the quote emailed later today. Hopefully it doesn't break the bank!

I have a 98 4.0L and it was very easy IMO. Took about an hour to swap alts total. This included disconnecting the power cables on the front and rear batteries, loosening the belt, dinking around with a couple things, and putting it all back together and hooking the batts back up.

If you have a 4.0 take the front battery out and you have easy access to the bolts for the alternator and I removed and installed the alts through the bottom so I didnt need to take the battery tray out or anything special. A/C compressor stays in place.

Im kinda forced to. I need a custom track bar because the axle i picked up has a track bar relocation bracket that raises the track bar to match the hi-steer WJ knuckle steering.

I cant get the tack bar done until they swap in the axle/springs/control arms so they can determine ride height and test suspension travel. Therefore a shop is putting in my lift.

Also I need my clayton crossmember welded on.

There are some things I can do, some things I can do but dont trust myself doing, and some things i cant do. This is the latter.

Regardless, it takes enough abuse from me.

I wheeled it pretty good today. It's sitting in my driveway covered in mud. It's going to sit there until at least next Saturday or Sunday. I'm sure my neighbors are going to love that.

Removed the old bushings from the control arm sleeves, Not the easiest thing to do. Now tomorrow I just have to remove the 2 from the axel and reinstall the arms.

Got the replacement motor on the stand, its out of a 96 hope everything works well as far as reinstall goes on my 98.

Happy to be at this point already, old motor pulled and junked, have the new oil pan, main, head gaskets ready to go on, just need to find time to start on it. Will be replacing the water pump, distributor cap and button, wires and plugs and thermostat.

Any other thoughts on what should be replaced while its out?
