I tried removing that tapered bolt on a TJ before, and broke my puller. Pounded, hammered, everything. If I tried again, I would likely try the BFH method again, pounding on the side a few times first. I doubt that would work, though. Every time I replaced the stabilizer, I just reused the old tapered shaft.
There's never time to do it right, but there's always time to do it over.
