I forget how much of a pain installing a lift is. Soaked all the bolts with PB blaster on saturday and started dismantling things sunday. Couldnt do the upper shock bolt because i dont have the special tool. That will arrive tomorrow. Bilsteins havent arrived yet anyway. All bolts came off relatively easy. Had to use a big breaker bar on a couple that i forgot to PB but nothing broke. Kept getting interrupted by rain and friends and a hot date for two days so only got the new spring isolators, springs and adjustable track bar bracket mounted. Plus my spring compressors are crap so after a couple failures that nearly cost me a finger or two I went to autozone and rented their external compressor tool. Definite must have for lift install.

Issues: the hole in the passenger side track bar mount is too small for the new bolt to pass through. would use the old bolt but the hole through bushing is larger than the old bolt. Need to buy a drill bit to make the hole larger. Steering damper will not come out. Need to buy a 3 lb sledge I think. nothing else worked. Used the bottle jack against frame to get the clearance that i needed to get the springs in. Worked great. I also don't have all my tools with me so am being slowed a bit by having to do everything with hand tools. Really miss my air/power tools. I also miss my garage. I hate laying on gravel. lol

Free parts if anyone wants them. Currently just have the front springs, track bar and track bar bracket. The spring insulators are actually good too but since i bought new ones someone else can have the old ones. I think the springs are in good condition. ride height from ground was 31" to fender on both sides.
It's always difficult on gravel with no air. I have to work halfway on gravel and concrete, so I use old carpet out of an elementary school.

Good luck bro can't wait to see the final outcome!

Thinking about adjusting my TV cable.
OK !! I give in !! What is the TV cable, and where is it ? Tell me hoe to adjust it, what manuel is it in ?
Also about adjusting the steering box, has anyone done this adjustment ?
This Jeep stuff is new to me ?
I saw a 2000 grand cherokee limited, this guy was wanting a $1000 w/ clear title or $550 w/out title, just for parts. It has electrical issues, the motor, tranny, and transfer case were in good shape according to him. wish I had the MOOLAH ! !!

Tv cable tells the transmission when to shift based on the throttle in put from your right foot. And it is located on the throttle body right under the throttle cable. On my 4.0 there was a push button. I think there is a white clip on some bit I don't know. But you take the clip off. Push the button in if you have the button. Then the center of the clip sjouke roughly be to the center of the mounting stud for the tv cable. Take it out like that and drive it and you can fine tune it from there. Hope this helps. As for steering box adjustment I have never done it so can't help. And that sucks on that wj. Seems like you could buy it with out the title and either part it out and get way more from it or buy it cheap see about fixing it and driving it.

Goonie, how did your heater core swap go? Do it the normal, long way, or the quicker way posted on the forums?

Went just fine.. Did it the quick way.. Didn't remove the box or discharge the a.c. System.. The new heater core that I purchased, the tubes were moveable so I just pulled the dash back.. Cut the old one's tubes and then cut a little of the box on the top right corner so I could wedge the new one in.

I have done the steering box adjusent several times with good and bad results. If you follow these instructions exactly! You will have success... Take it out and adjust it on the bench!
Goo luck

Edit: if you don't have success you'll end up ruining it, then just take it back to advance and explain that you can't find your receipt...

Sooo anybody no where i can get a good aftermarket dipstick/tube set up for my 318? I can find a grip of older ones that enter through the timing cover buuut..... I'm sure I could get one for a dodge, but I'm not sure of the the length do to the different oil pans....

OT: went to the dealer to order said part and was informed there were a #*&%load on back order but no confirmed vendor! But they had the oil filter fitting!!

And now I'm waiting patiently for my valve covers to show up.....should be by the end of the day!

I try to avoid it. I'm a firm believer in "you get what you pay for"

So you think because you got a part at an auto store it's better than something from the yard? hahaha

At the JY you are going to get a genuine Mopar part as to where if you go someplace else it's probably going to be cheap chinese crap. Just because it has been used on a vehicle doesn't mean it's junk. There are plenty of useful OEM parts at a junkyard that are better than auto store parts. I got all 8 of my injectors there, front drive shaft, window motors, trim pieces, relays ect. all in great shape.

Plus, we are only talking about a dipstick tube here geez

Everything here X10000

Junkyard parts are almost always better than the new crap you pay 10x the price for at a parts store.
