I found the super rare convertible ZJ today. You guys ever see one?




97 ZJ - 5.2L, 242, 4" IRO lift w/short arms & adj. TBs, JKS Discos/BPEs, DT3000s, Aussie'd 44A, sliders, bumpers, bunch o' skids, 31" Duratracs on 15x8s

Iv got a dilemma guys! Do I take my 228,000 mile i6. Fix the rust on it. Do an at home paint job. Maybe a 2in bb and 31s. Snowflake rims paint black and put wheel spacers on. Or do I save for a mint mint 5.2 low mile. Swap a 5.9 in it and make it my own? Could swap everything over if I do end up going the first route. And I am serious on 5.2<5.9 swap. I'd go south and get a rust free one. When I do that take my 4.0 and wheel it? What do you guys think.

family day! i re-glued my headliner AGAIN, installed my new coolant overflow tank and fixed a few small misc items while dad fixed the rust spots on the edge of his hood. not bad shape for mine (red) that just hit 160k and his (black) at 178k (i know not even broken in yet but still lol)

although i did lose another horn. found that out when a honda pilot cut me off and nothing happened lol

Why not just find a Niner if you want a 5.9? After the cost of the engine and the right computer, plus all the other crap you'll need to make it work properly, you'd spend less on a Niner than a low mileage 5.2.

Get the 5.2 and DD/wheel it. Sell the 4.0 to buy a lift/tires for the 5.2. Later do a 5.9 swap if you still feel like it.

Because I would feel bad doing what I would want to do with a 9er. It's going to be a dd/weekend wheeler. If the 4.0 isn't to far gone And rusted aways might try and save it and make it a play jeep only that could still be street driven.

2nd day of working on replacing intake gaskets on the 5.2. Broke the oil psi sending unit and the rotor on the dist, dam big hands in tight places. Got the intake gasketed and torqued down with no problems.


5.2, 46RH, D30>760x, D35, 249>231, 15x8, 31”BFG, lifted, skidded, guarded, racked, lighted.

replaced p/nss. n p1899 came up again! along w p0441. after researching, ive decided to just clear all codes n drive as i always do. that jeeps a soldier.

also downloaded to fsm and read 487 pages so far. time to nap then carry on.

btw, nickpequignot: i agree completely w midnightluckey. the i6 sounds fun, and my heart would feel heavy...but a low mileage 5.2 may be a lot less trouble and a lot more fun.
