Its supposed to be the orangeish color like it is on the bottom but I think that the liquid or whatever is in there is leaking out...

I,ve seen auto dims that are not orange at all. The orange means its on its way out I believe. That fluid is a mess so don't let it get on you or your paint. I've never checked but I've read where its cheaper to get the whole mirror than just the glass. Don't know if thats true or not. It is a cool feature though.

My auto dim mirror looks like it is baking in the upper right corner. I assumed it was from the defroster, but after reading this maybe not. It is amber colored' and I've been looking in the junkyard for one with the same color without any luck. I took a mirror assembly from a ZJ that had the auto dim push button on the inside mirror but assumed it didn't have the auto dim because it looked like a plain mirror.

I didn't rush to replace the bad mirror because I can still see out of it and didn't want to lose the dim feature, but maybe this weekend I'll swap it out and see what happens.

Rotate the mirror up all the way. Stick a screwdriver in through the bottom and pop off the mirror. Unplug the connectors. Go to the junkyard, find 96+ ZJ Laredo with heated mirrors (has heater symbol on the glass). Pull glass, check for broken clips. Plug in mirror (which connector goes to which doesn't matter) to Jeep housing. Line up mirror and press glass and housing together until it clicks. Clean glass. Done.

So got a new head light from brown Santa today. On my old head lights there is a metal piece that sits right in front of the bulb. This one there is not. What do I do?

I may be wrong but I think the auto dim outside mirror has two stand alone wires in the mirror harness.

Yup. Doesn't need to be hooked to anything for the rear view mirror to dim.

Tried for four hours to get my old steering stabilizer off, with a hammer, a pitman arm remover, and a torch.

It's still on there

And harleydad, yeah man, that thing is super clean!

Well. Figured out why it won't start..... And all it took was a test light and some 100grit
also ended up with a casualty.... My trusty shorts are being retired due to too many holes

When I did my lift back in February, I used a dead blow BFH and beat the p*ss out of it until it gave way. It wasn't an easy feat to get off the stock steering stabilizer.

Put headlight and new bulbs in. Can finally drive it at night now. Have to get some different odds and ends done. Need a new glove box. Then to start on the center console project.
