Well was told that my 194s. White and amber leds will be shipped Saturday. The 1197s need special orders because amber isn't a normal color. Those will be a few weeks. Then I'll order the 6 3057s I need for the tails. Then I'm going to buy two kicker comp 10s and put in my box so I have two working subs. Then it's on to the stuff everyone loves on here... LIFTS. But first. Cloth seats will be in Saturday night.

Have you decided on a lift size yet?

I do have a problem though. I'm getting 2 kicker comp 10s in the process of designing a box for them. And I kinda need to know how high the back seat is to keep it under the back. And well as you all know. My seats are sitting on my shop floor. Anyone want to help a zjer out?

I think the only thing you're absolutely sure on is IRO.

When I found out I was moving to Alaska I started shopping for a vehicle that would be appropriate for the weather. ZJ was my first choice, a M-Class was number 2 (after all, it was Motor Trend's 1998 Truck of the year). But my wife thinks the steering on the ZJ is scary. I disagree, at it's worst it's mysterious and unpredictable, but never SCARY. She wanted to trade in the ZJ for an W163 M-Class and since it was our anniversary I decided we could take a test drive. It WAS a pretty sweet car/truck/suv thing (albeit rather minivan looking). Long story short, I was all but convinced that trading the Jeep in for the Merc was the right thing to do, but after closer inspection, it became less appealing. It was a 2005 ML350 which compared to the ZJ:

-is slower
-gets worse gas mileage (and needs premium)
-longer stopping distance
-lower ground clearance
-more expensive to maintain
-had less features (my ZJ has the overhead console, trip calculator, memory seats, and full sized spare FTW!)

In my mind, the better handling and extra space were not worth sacrificing everything else. So I traded in her Mustang which made her sad but saves me over $100 a month on car payments and insurance. So on topic:

Today I parked the ZJ in my driveway and took my wife and 5 month old out to some trails in her M-Class to show her what it could do and had a great time.

Canyon: how do I remove those rear vents? If I could get them out, I would paint them. I'm also considering removing the bumpers and door cladding and painting them black, minus the gold stripe.

Changed out the rear lower control arm bushings. I didn't think it would matter much because the old bushings looked like they were in good shape but boy was I wrong. It made a big difference in handling.
