I have a 5.9 and today I was trying to change the factory headunit out with a Kenwood that I had. Well see what happen was I couldn't figure out how to wire it in the short time I had so I spliced the original connectors back in and hooked the factory one back up. Well when I was done my key fob wouldn't work, my alarm went freakin nuts and the alarm would kill the Jeep. Well I found the purple and gold wire and shorted it so now it runs but my key fob won't work. And when I got home it would crank but not start so I had to reset the computer. Does anyone have any idea what stupid thing I did and how to fix it? And dome lights randomly come on.

Well I bought a wiring harness and that didn't fix it but it did let the kenwood work. The guy at the audio shop said I screwed it up when I cut the purple wire and the white wire (the only connector with just two wires). So what can I do now

Yeah I got one of those adapters that plugs into the factory harness and ends with pre-spliced wires.

Anyways, sounds like a fuse is blown somewhere. Check that first.

Check your under hood fuses. There is a black box next to the battery that holds relays and fuses. That's probably where it is if it is a fuse.

I completely agree. I was trying to save a dollar. Well I finally got my hands on a 5.9. I don't plan on getting rid of it.

The Purple and the White wire on the 2 pin connector is the CCD/CAN bus, it's a data line...... If you cut and connected these to anything with power or ground you could have smoked: BCM,PCM,Dashboard,VIC, Door control modules, Alarm module... Could be a very expensive mistake.

Hope he didn't let that wire just dangle or cut them when the battery was connected.
It does sound like he at least killed the door module and made the bcm very unhappy.

Yes, if you fried a module it could be a constant short.
