I wouldn't spend the money on one.

Performance gains are very little, especially on a stock I6.

If you wheel your Jeep, that is another reason not to get one. An open element filter is a more direct path for water to enter. Most of them also filter less effectively than the stock paper filter does.

I have the Amsoil drop-ins available for the Grand Cherokees all 93-04 (except the 4.7L HO versions) for $38.00 plus shipping. It is a synthetic, dry media filter that flows like a K&N and catches dirt better than an OEM paper filter. Here is a link to the filter, They are guaranteed 100,000 miles/4 years.

Uhm, no. Buy a good filter and a heat shield. The autozone way works but you're still sucking up hot air and the filter is awful.

The best way to do one, if you want to, is a K&N FIPK and swap the filter with an amsoil.

REDNECK INTAKE

4" PVC with cone filter at the end. Doesn't heat up like the aluminum and its cheap.

No sorry. But if you buy two of those "PIGS" per year for 4 years, you have spent $40.00. The Amsoil filter is guaranteed to last at least that long and can be cleaned. No need to oil or dry after cleaning either. So, in a way I can price match! Do the math!

I have the Auto Zone cheap cone filter with a homemade setup.

It made a huge diff. on my 97 4.0.

Is a definite improvement over stock box and sounds great.

Have same filter for 5 years now and washable.

I have the 4.7......but..........

I used the K&N FIPK with an AMSOIL filter.

But honestly I'm over it. Just messes with the PCM. I'm putting the regular airbox back in this week.

Mine doesn't mess up the pcm at all. My jeep is perfectly fine. I got the same set-up only difference is I have an amsoil pre-filter over my filter.
