This is what $83 gets 4.0 exhaust manifold

Dont get packages often for the jeep and since there are so many of these listed on ebay at varying prices heres what $83 gets.. ($54.95 + $27.75 shipping) Includes intake/exhaust gasket, flange donut gasket and new bolts for the flange.

Welds look a little funny to me, but im no welder.

Supposed to rain today, so wont be putting it on today. I will take pictures as I do it for those who are needing to change thiers.

Looks like my eBay manifold.

Only mine came wrapped in newpaper and the gasket was smashed.

Looks like the guy you bought from cares a little bit more then the guy I bought from.

The intake/exhaust gasket was damaged. I emailed the seller so mabye i can get another. If not Ill be buying a new one. The gasket itself looks cheap, it was creased/smashed a bit so i dont think it will seal correctly as is.

Seller claims it has a limited lifetime warranty.

I got a similar header/manifold from the advertisement here.

I would not trust that gasket. I ended up using an OE gasket from the dealer. It costs about $15 and is raised around the ports for a better seal.

What's the accordion connector on the manifold all about? Not having a 4.0L I've never seen that before. Seems kind of restrictive to me?

It's an heat and expansion thingy. The basic design of the original stock 4.0 manifold was rigid and assembled from a lot of parts. The length of the outer legs caused them to expand proportionally longer than the inner legs when at operating temperature. This caused all sorts of cracking. The bellows joints are designed to flex instead. I still don't trust them, however, and the basic design is restrictive.

I'd be interested to hear from folks who have installed the $120 Banks header knockoffs that appeared last year.

No rain so I went and put it on.

Not as loud thats for sure. Although I can now hear the other noises my engine makes. Really not many ZJs around here, and Ive only heard one other and it sounded much the same so Im hoping mines not too far gone.

When its cooling down you can hear those expansion joints pop an creak back into shape.

I had the crack in mine welded, and I still dont see any others except the weld was starting to crack a little. (Was right where those expansion joints are)

I have a few pics of the process of removing the old one, except my batteries decided to die right in the middle so oh well..
