Dont get packages often for the jeep and since there are so many of these listed on ebay at varying prices heres what $83 gets.. ($54.95 + $27.75 shipping) Includes intake/exhaust gasket, flange donut gasket and new bolts for the flange.
Welds look a little funny to me, but im no welder.
Supposed to rain today, so wont be putting it on today. I will take pictures as I do it for those who are needing to change thiers.
The intake/exhaust gasket was damaged. I emailed the seller so mabye i can get another. If not Ill be buying a new one. The gasket itself looks cheap, it was creased/smashed a bit so i dont think it will seal correctly as is.
It's an heat and expansion thingy. The basic design of the original stock 4.0 manifold was rigid and assembled from a lot of parts. The length of the outer legs caused them to expand proportionally longer than the inner legs when at operating temperature. This caused all sorts of cracking. The bellows joints are designed to flex instead. I still don't trust them, however, and the basic design is restrictive.
I'd be interested to hear from folks who have installed the $120 Banks header knockoffs that appeared last year.
Not as loud thats for sure. Although I can now hear the other noises my engine makes. Really not many ZJs around here, and Ive only heard one other and it sounded much the same so Im hoping mines not too far gone.
When its cooling down you can hear those expansion joints pop an creak back into shape.
you hear those too huh? i popped the hood yesterday and heard a pop. i looked around looking for a broken gasket or a spot thats leaking but then i realized what it was.
I had the crack in mine welded, and I still dont see any others except the weld was starting to crack a little. (Was right where those expansion joints are)
I have a few pics of the process of removing the old one, except my batteries decided to die right in the middle so oh well..
i've installed 5 of those manifolds for friends/family/myself, and i haven't ran into any problems with them. it really is a good buy, ya can't beat it.

My 2003 Overland WJ does that. After you have it parked, you here every now and then a loud POP comong from someplace, I bet thats what Im hearing, and you hear the silly blend doors on the move when the thing is off, but anyhow, I bet that pop is the same thing as you said.
Not sure there.. I bought some new mounts but that side ended up not fitting so I left the old one in there and replaced the other side. Theres a rubber pad on the front of it which is all you can see from those pics.
Some of the mounts have a spot or hole that goes all the way through, i think its to give them some extra room to move around. So they arent as firm.
