Well i think my transmission is screwd... i need some help

This is for my 5.9, So 2 days ago i started hearing what sounded like grinding/slurping noises under the shifter. Not so much grinding its almost like slurping or hissing or something.

Now today its doing it again cept much worse, and on top of that its now poping or vibrating i can feal it when i put my hand on the shifter handle. The poping noise is pretty bad too i was showing my step dad and it was horrible i can feal something clunking underneeth, and it felt like something was going to fall off my Jeep.

I tried putting it into neutral and the hissing/slurping/grinding whatever noise is still there and if i rev the engine when rolling on the road in neutral it gets worse. It does it in drive, 2-1 ect.. overdrive, overdrive off, torque converter locked and not locked.

The hissing noise also gets louder right before its about to shift into a new gear... I dunno this is getting scary because im un employed now and i have no money and I cant fix a transmission if this is what it is... Im suspecting its the torque converter.. It hasnt slipped once, or have delayed engagement in drive or reverse. It also shifts gears 1-3, OD, and lock like clock work..

I tried going on the parkway and WOT went like 90mph, it shifted through all the gears including OD just fine...

I dunno... Someone please help me

When im in park, i dont hear anything. If im standing still in neutral i dont hear anything. If i rev the engine in park or neutral the noise isnt there and i revved it good up to 5k rpm

The noise starts once the car is moving faster then say 10mph.

I should note i was hearing a scratching noise under the Jeep 2 days ago prior to this i thought was the suspension so i went down and started wiggling things. When i wiggled the drive train tho the noise was coming from somewhere on the tranny, i found out its the cable AFTER the spring on the throttle valve. Its black sheethed and goes up over the transmission in the back. That thing was causing the scratching noise it was rubbing on something. So i moved it a little and that noise went away and then all this started shortly after.

I just went down there and wiggled the cable and tried to reach up top on the tranny where the cable goes to see if something was rattling again and i took it for a drive and the pop/rattle seems to be gone im not 100% sure, but that hissing/slurping noise is still there when im driving...

If your confused about the cable, its this one right the part i circle in red.. Thats part of the TV cable well its attached to the lever anyway.. it goes up on top of the transmission.. what all is up there ? Cause since i moved it on top a little to stop the squeeking noise it was making (rubbing on something) thats when all this started happening.

Anyone ? Skip ahead to 3:40 and listen when im rolling at like 30ish mph i put the trans in neutral and turn the engine off and its still making the noise...

It cant be the tranny if the engine and all power is off could it ?

The only thing I could see making that noise is the T-case chain . For the cost of 2 quarts of atf+4 , I'd be draining the oil for an inspection .

I had just checked it like a week ago and it was red. I do have some extra bottles tho. I'll drain it and see. My question tho is why would the noise get worse when the tranny is about to shift and drop back down in noise level after it does. But then still make the noise when rolling while the engine and power are off

The TV cable has to do with shift points in a sense, doesn't it? Did you change it's tautness enough to alter the point at which it downshifts? I'm really unsure why it would be doing this.

Kinda sounds like the front pump.

Yea i was thinking the torque converter/pump myself.. If it were wouldnt it stop as power/engine is shut down even if im rolling.. cause it doesnt ?

I was thinking of trying to put the transfercase into neutral while rolling to see maybe if that would affect the noise. a few ppl seem to think its the transfercase, but im afraid it might pop it into low while im rolling at 30mph. The lever on my 249 is a bit tricky. Im just not sure if its the transfercase because why would the noise get semi louder right as its about to shift into a gear, then when it shifts the noise level drops. Cause when i flick OD on and off and on and off i can make the noise come and go and come and go as far as noise level. Same for poping it into 2nd and then drive and so forth.

Assuming it were the pump what am i going to expect as far as longetivity or what not..

It'll grind like holy hell before managing to drop in low. Dont worry about it.

i edit a ton check my post.

Assuming itwere the front pump which i assume is driven by the engine along the front shaft.. what am i looking at as far possible dmg, ignore it maybe ? , and what not..

EDIT: well it isnt a check valve constriction making the pump whine.. checked the line lost about a quart of atf in 2 seconds ....

Question, assuming this were the front pump on the transmission, wouldnt the noise go away when the transmission is in neutral and the engine is shut off when im rolling on the road ? Because it doesnt.

Another question is the shifter handle, something is causing major vibrations and knocking noises under the Jeep. On top of the other noise. It feals like something is about to break lose and fall off the Jeep it rattles really bad. If i put my hand on the shifter handle i can feal it coming through that..

How exactly is the shifter handle put together ? Is it attached to a linkage like the transfercase handle is ? What would cause rattling to vibrate through the transmission shifter handle ??

Ok guys i fixed it... you wont believe what it was haha...

The fuel line as someone mentioned earlier goes directly above the transmission.. Aparently there are brackets on the line that bolt into stuff to keep the line stable. Well there is a bracket directly below the tcase and tranny shifter levers... I just found that bracket on mine and mine the bolt was gone.. Musta rattled loose..

That bracket is like MM below the floor board on the shifter handles. I twisted the bracket down outa the way and took it for a test drive just now... Boom poping vibrating, grinding noises are gone. Slushing slurping noises are gone as well..

So it wasnt the tranny, it was a stupid peice of crap bracket... I guess when i moved the black sheethed line connect to the TV cable lever outa the way on top of the tranny it also dislodged it from the fuel line, and since that was the only thing keeping that fuel line bracket from vibrating on stuff thats how all these noises started..

Funny huh ?
