Water + Transmission

I have ruined two transmissions from water contamination and have had to have my differentials drained once because of water.

I was wondering, to get water in your tranny do you just have to get it in deep enough water? Or shift a gear when its submerged? Or what?!

Being in deep water will do it if your vent hoses are not properly routed (yes, the transmission has a vent hose). Crawl underneath, locate the hoses and make sure they are routed up nice and high with an upside down 'U' at the end to help keep water out.
Of course, if your seals are bad and let fluid out, they aren't going to be very effective at keeping water from getting in.

I don't know for a fact, but I don't see any reason why it wouldn't be the same.
