I didn a search but didn't find anything...
When I accellerate from a stop in my 2003 Grand Chrokee Limited, I hear a sound like water swishing around. It comes from under the dash on the pass side. Any ideas?

Oh, and bleed your coolant, that should get rid of the swishing noise.

My 5.2 did this off and on in the winter time after I had replaced the engine. I burped the system once, just to get the major air out, and after that, I let the engine work it out by itself. It does not make that sound anymore. Do you smell antifreeze inside the cabin? If you do, then the heater core might have a leak. Also check the engine bay for any small antifreeze leaks. A leak will let air into the system and cause the sound of the rushing water behind the dash. Usually, air has been introduced into the system for this noise to start in the first place. The air could come in because there is a leak, or perhaps someone took off the radiator cap and let air into the radiator. The radiator system on these late model jeeps is a closed system, in which replacement fluid is added through the overflow tank.

dont know why the first link didnt work but .........
a quote from your original post "I hear a sound like water swishing around. It comes from under the dash on the pass side"
a quote from the second link i posted, again in the original post "noticed what sounded like water gurgling behind the dash"
sure sounds un-related to me

haha sandman, your funny. I will confirm this since the second link you referred was my post. YES this topic is the exact same issue as mine. I was focussing on the gurgle, but the swishing water noise is directly related to the gurgle. They are caused by the same thing as I learned, air in the cooling system. I must work on bleeding my cooling system, as should you OP.

Wow. When did this forum get filled up with d-bags? For the record gurgling and swooshing are 2 different sounds. I don't have gurgling, I have swishing. Why would anyone get so upset that I tried a search and didn't find what I was looking for. I mean really, it impacts your day that much that you have to do multiple searches and rub it in my face. I hope someday I can have as much free time on my hands as you guys. I've had Jeeps for the past 6 years and have always found this forum friendly and useful. Sorry I'm not a Jeep god or a master of searching.
