Water leaking in

Ok so my ZJ has decided that it should start to let rainwater in when its raining.
wich is a little annoying.... (i dont have a sunroof)

It seems to come from 2 different places.
The first is just infront of the overheadconsolle where the wires for the rearview mirror are.
Here:

And here on the driversside floorboard:

You can see were the carpet is darker due to water leaking in.

I looked at the doorseal and its ok and not torn.
Are there any drains that goes in the a pillars on jeeps that dont have a sunroof?

I had some rustspots on the roof where i thought it had rusted a hole but after i had removed the paint and looked closer there was no holes

My first thoughts would be

Windshield seal

Roof rack

Cowl seams (wouldn't affect the ceiling though)

The windshield was replaced last year so that seal should be good,
I will take a look at the roofrack maybe some of the bolts have worked themself loose.

It rained again last night and this time i saw where it driped water from, it came from above where the hoodrelese handle is.
Where is the normal spot for water to leak in if it leaks above the relese handle on a ZJ?
This time there was no water dripping from the roof...
Since the windshield is only a year old i find it hard to belive that the seal already are bad on it.
When i looked at the doorseal that sits next to the windshield it was full of dirt so i cleaned that out, but i doubt that its because of that.

How do i look at the cowl seals?

Open your hood and look in the back corners just below the windshield

The orange stuff there in the pic is where the seals are. If it's all dried up and cracking, they probably need replaced. I just scraped my old seal out and used RTV to seal it back up, although I'm sure your could use some other sealant (i could be wrong but I seem to remember seeing rubber replacement ones somewhere too). Mine is orange because I used copper RTV just cause I already had it sitting around.

Scraped the old sealant off and resealed it today.
Now i only have to find out where its leaking in on the roof.
But its a little wierd somtimes it will leak when it rains and sometimes it can rain for several days and it wont leak inside.

Most likely the screws/holes on the roof rack leaking. On my 96 I removed the screws, about 6 per side, but not all at once or the roof rack itself. Then shot some good RTV down in the holes and reinstalled the screws. Stopped any leaks and an easy fix.

My rear hatch started leaking real bad this past week with all the rain. Just ordered a new gasket for the rear from quadratec.
