VIC Swap questions?

Hey all, I've got a 96 Laredo, with the standard flat light-up 4WD indicator plate, and was given a VIC with the calendar display and buttons, etc out of a 97 Limited. My question is can I swap the VIC into the pocket for the Laredo without too many issues, and what would I have to buy/mod/replace to do so? I could have sworn I saw it on here before, and was hoping for a little guidance since my indicator panel seems to be on it's way out.

There are two versions of the florescent tube display VIC, a two plug and a single plug I believe. I would get a FSM for your year and get some one to post the wiring diagram for the 1997 and do some comparing. Probaly not an impossible job but there are more functions with the tube display model which probaly means some circuit running. I put one in my 98 that didn't have one. I'm not familiar enough with the cross year diagrams to give you a go, no go answer.

93-95 has two connectors.

96-98 has one connector, wiring diagrams look identical.

Same connector pinout and wire colors as shown below...
