VIC engine symbol?

I just bought a ZJ a few weeks ago and I have a question about the VIC. It said my coolant temp sensor was bad, but I replaced the sensor and it went away. Now the only thing showing on the VIC is a flashing red square in the engine compartment. The date and time flash along with it but the VIC does not display any other warnings. I hooked up my code reader and there are no codes showing. I want to know what would trigger the red square to light up without showing any additional warnings or codes. Or is this just one of those bad soldering jobs that I've been reading about?

The flashing engine is for the low coolant. The flashing windshield is low washer fluid.

Both indicators of the bad solder joints.

I like having my VIC operational. It told me last week that my trailer wiring was FUBAR. As soon as I plugged in my trailer and stepped on the brakes with the turn signals on, the VIC started flashing telling me I had a rear lamp failure. It's also handy for letting me know I'm running low on washer fluid before I actually run out. Also very handy that the VIC tells me I have a brake light out before a cop does...

Main reason I have mine, I never check the bulbs, but the troopers do.

Irons are cheap and very very very useful for a menagerie of tasks!

I know a lot of people here take them out, but I like knowing when there's a non-obvious problem with my vehicles so I can fix them before they cause other and bigger problems.

I filled the coolant and the light is still on, so I think it's safe to assume I need to do some solder work. Thanks for the info! By the way, the day after I posted this my "coolant sensor bad" warning came back.

The engine also lights up for low oil if you have the oil level sensor but it also usually says "Engine Oil Low" or "Check Engine Oil" or something like that.

My VIC has been perfect except for one bad capacitor that stopped it from working at all. Cost me less than a dollar at Frys and about half an hour to solder it in place. I do like that it tells me when my fluids are low or I have a bad bulb, or bad taillight wiring like it did a month ago.

My little circuit board soldering pencil came from Sears for like $20 I think and came with a little roll of solder. Not bad for a working VIC, swapping out caps in the PCM, etc.

While you're at it check your headlight/interior light switch as well, since you have to pull the lower trim piece off the dash to get the EVIC out, it's only a couple more screws to pull the headlight switch.

His: '00 WJ 4.7 Limited- Some stuff

Hers: '03 WJ 4.7 Laredo- Some more stuff

Check it for what? More bad connections? Sorry, I'm new to the Jeep world.

Bad solder joints

Do your dash lights flicker, or maybe Jus not adjust? Same issue

Oh, gotcha. Yeah, actually sometimes a couple of the gauge lights go out and come back later. Thanks for the heads up!
