vibration rear end

My jeep has a problem and i don't know if its a drive shaft or tranny issue. in drive (1st gear) when i accelerate semi to hard the whole rear end vibrates and shakes, i was able to see that my driveshaft was clearly slipping, so is that a u-joint issue? however on the flip side i can hammer it in reverse and it runs perfect. the reason why i ask if its tranny is because my tranny already slips and shifts some what rough.

well you can easily put it in N (while its off) and yank the ebrake. Crawl under it and rotate the driveshaft back and forth and check for play in the u-joints.

Thanks, Yeah i planned on trying that when i get home today. Any other opinions? Could this possibly be a tranny issue?

cant really see it being the tranny, try the U-joints first cause its cheap, you can do it you self with a vise and a couple sockets to press it out.. note you need a vise that opens really wide, i got the biggest one home depot had for $70

my moms wj has been kindof vibrating too. it sounds like a tire is rubbing, but its not, is that what your hearing? happens only on left turns for me. i would start with a fluid change, i honestly think in my case its a LSD issue.
