Never changed one on a 5.2L but I have changed a few, all I have changed were pretty much the same. I removed the belt with the tensioner and then unscrewed the pully with the appropriate socket and put the new one on. Is your's squeeking bad or falling apart or something?

I had to change the belt on mine, so I took a look at the idler pulley as well. I can't remember the socket size, but you need to move the tensioner right and down by getting the right size socket and a locked ratchet, then pull on it in that direction. The tensioner will move freely provided you have a locked ratchet and a pipe to go on the handle...unless you have a special tool made to move a tensioner, like I did
...from there, the belt is nice and loose and you can take it on/off with no problems. The idler pully is just pull & replace, nothing more. Unscrew, and pop off; then replace, and screw back in, making sure it can't flop around any. Then just put the belt back on in the right order and move the tensioner back to the original position.I hate idler pulleys...they always have to screech when they're going bad. Hope you get yours done, luckily mine hasn't gone bad yet. ![]()
